Going on a road trip from GA to MI in a couple of weeks that involves a 2-night stay in Mason, OH. Can anyone help me with a good bottle shop near Mason, or off I-75 between Cincy and Dayton where I could pick up some Fat Head's Head Hunter or Hop Juju? Any other highly recommended local IPAs I should be looking for? I've got the family with me, so I can't venture too far off the beaten path in search of beer. Thanks!
Belmont Party Supply in Dayton will be your best bet. You won't find Hop Juju, though - it's long gone.
Loveland cappys is about 10 min from mason...great guys and good bottle selection...whole foods in mason has a decent little selection as well
Not sure if they have Hop JuJu, but Jungle Jim's north of Cincy is a must-go spot. Be sure to grab some Brew Kettle White Rajah and Victory DirtWolf (if you can't get it at home). Also, Rhinegheist Truth and MadTree Psychopathy are two local IPAs that are both canned and damn good.
Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm headed to western MI, so I will probably be peeling off I-75 somewhere between Dayton and Finlay. Hitting Toledo would take me a little bit out of the way. I'll try one or two of those spots in Dayton/Cincy. Thanks!
Not sure about Mason, but I recommend Dutch's Wine and Bottle Shop in Hyde Park Cincinnati. As stated previously Jungle Jims will have it. I will also second how great Rhingeist Truth and Madtree phycHOPhathy are. I recommend going to both Tap rooms (OTR and Norwood area). Rivertown is good too and is right off 75.
