My Dad will be retiring from many decades of service from his firehouse, of which he is the chief. Are there breweries out there that produce quality brew and donate some of their profits to firefighter families, or something to that effect? We're throwing him a birthday/retirement bash, and I thought it might be clever/fun to try to buy beer from a brewery like what I described. Many thanks for what I hope are thoughtful, helpful posts.
Firehouse Brewing in South Dakota is far from you, and they do not bottle their beers for you to stand a chance of purchasing any beer for a retirement bash unless you can set up a deal with a local BA for some growlers, but when I visited this brewery a couple of months ago I think I read that they contribute a portion of their profits so some sore of fire fighting organization. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1001/ http://www.firehousebrewing.com/
Look up Hook & Ladder Brewing in Maryland. Not sure how close you are and how widely they distribute.
I think this is right up your alley. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20878/ http://www.firemansbrew.com/our-story
