Well I kegged my beer this afternoon only to find that when I hooked up the CO2 regulator that it is leaking from the adjustment knob! (Lesson learned: test everything) I see other people have had similar issues and I can repair it but it's a real PITA. I'm hoping the vendor will replace it but that may take some weeks.

My beer should be safe in the keg in my keezer for a few weeks, shouldn't it?

Is it a constant leak or did you just hear gas escaping while turning the dialing the pressure down?

Make sure you have enough gas to keep the keg sealed. The pressure will drop as the headspace gas dissolves into the beer, until it reaches equilibrium.

So this was an initial hookup? Aren't you the new brewing brother who bought a refer/freezer? What temp do you have it set at? <2*C?

Once I turned the pressure up it starts to leak from two small holes (one above and one below the knob) and it leaks constantly. I think I've got the keg sealed (I tried to open it but couldn't).

I can't leave the CO2 on, otherwise it will all just escape.

Yes, first time hook up and yes, it was me who bought the fridge/freezer. I've got the temperature at between 2C (36F) and 3C (37F)

could be a bad regulator. it happens.

be sure the cap is tight. not the adjustment knob. some regulators have a threaded cap beneath the adjustment knob. turn it tight.
    Cheers.

Thanks, are you referring to the black plastic bit underneath the red knob in the attached picture? That seems pretty tight.

If you turn the pressure down on the regulator, and the pressure inside the keg is greater than what the regulator is adjusted to, it will let out CO2 from a little hole next to the adjustment screw until equilibrium is reached between the regulator and the keg. At least that's what mine does.. if it's constantly leaking though that's a different issue. Might be time to get a new regulator...

Thanks, buy even if I have the regulator just open and not attached to anything it is leaking out very quickly.

The vendor is going to refund me and I'm going to buy one from a local supplier.

Just an update if anyone is interested. I got the refund from the vendor, but before I sent it back I decided to open it up and see if there was anything obviously wrong. Of course there was: the diaphragm was bent and not fitting over the sides of the housing properly. I've put it back together and it appears to be working now!
