You say "other than PtE and HT" like it's assumed that they're in the top 5. I don't know that I'd put them there for me personally; not saying I don't like them (I love those beers) but there are so many excellent DIPAs out there (haven't checked which are in/out of the 8-8.9% range) and I don't necessarily place either of them in my top 5. This specific ABV range may eliminate enough options that they do make my top 5, but it's by no means an assumption in my case.

Now, off to the Style page to see what is my list.

Looking at my ratings it is:
    Hop Venom
    Fatamorgana
    The Brother
    Mongo
    Lil Sumpin Extra
    Fair Maiden
    Sip of Sunshine

Worth noting that my two favorite DIPAs are 9% (Tank Slapper and Bad Boy) and Heady Topper is below every beer I named and then some for me personally.

So I ignored some of my ratings, particularly Head and Pliny; I freely admit those were 'give in to the hype' a bit whereas more recently I've gotten much tougher and give out a TON less 5s than I used to.

    My top 10, in order:

    Toppling Goliath Sosus
    Fiddlehead Mastermind
    Columbus Bodhi
    Alchemist Heady Topper
    Sip of Sunshine
    Pliny the Elder
    Trillium Mettle
Neshaminy Creek Shape of Hops to Come
    Alpine Pure Hoppiness
    NEBCo Gandhi Bot

There are also two Tired Hands DIPAs in the ABV range that I really enjoyed, but am not really sure how to place them on the list since I'm an admitted homer when it comes to them.

I think it's more like everyone is just gonna say those two beers because they're so highly sought after. It's good to have a list where those are just omitted.

Thanks for all the reply's. I mentioned neglecting Heady and Pliny, and I appreciate all the other opinions. I've had Pliny the Younger/elder and HD and they were great. The beers that I mentioned t the top of my post were perceived as better.

Fair enough, personally I stuck to only beers in the DIPA style, in the stated ABV range, that I've rated. If I haven't tried it, how could it be my favorite? I do acknowledge though that some people may not follow this theory.
