The best red ale in my opinion is Heretic Brewing Co's Evil Twin! Just a stupendous beer.

Stegmaier Amber Lager and Rohrbach Highland Lager, although these are technically vienna lagers

    Anyone ever try Straub's Amber?

Pretty sure that's an amber lager, not an amber ale. It's decent, but not terribly exciting as far as I can recall, but it's been a while since I had it.

Side note: I went to a bar where the Straub reps were there giving out samples. Very nice guys, but when asked what kinds of beers they had they just said "Straub and Light." "No, what styles of beer are they?" "....Straub, and Light." ".... ok, I'll try the Straub." Reminded me of the Blues Brothers.

Couldn't agree more to this. If you enjoyed Bell's Amber Ale then I think Dark Horse's Amber Ale will definitely not disappoint and these days maybe my favorite Amber Ale.

It seems like amber ales comprise a rather broad category. Troegs Hopback and Bells Amber are both delicious, but are completely different beers to me, and I probably wouldn't consider them the same style if I had them side by side. Not sure what else I'd think they were though.. I may need to try this.

For me Ale Asylum Ambergeddon is the best I have had. I also enjoy Summit Horizon red, and Lagunitas Imperial Red.
