Allagash and Boulevard as most have already said. Honorary mention to Captain Lawrence xtra gold tripel. Enjoyed that one quite a bit.

In order to establish a 'baseline', are there any Belgian brewed Tripels that you like?

    Cheers!

Tripel Karmeliet, Chimay, La Fin Du Monde.... Did not enjoy them. Belgian brewed tripels probably are not a good style for me.

I now understand why you dislike non-Belgian brewed Tripels like Allagash as well.

    Cheers!

Yep... Not a fan of Allegash beers. Tripel, or any of their other offerings.

    Cheers!

I think you should just chalk up Tripels as a loss of a style for you. After reading that you basically don't like 3 of the best examples of the style.

You're right. I should just seek out the styes I enjoy. And being a hop head, the choices are many...

I am a Belgian tripel JUNKIE... I prefer more of the Belgian made ones, but there are some American ones that are very good too.

It's a Belgian Strong Pale Ale which is very much like a tripel... a Tripel is pretty much a type of Belgian Strong (Pale) Ale...

but tripels come in a wonderful amount of variety not just in color too. Which is why they are absolutely one of my favorite styles... there's so much diversity in them.

I have to respectfully disagree. Brooklyn Local 1, and Don De Dieu are SBPA's and they have zero taste profiles with tripels.

I said it is "like" a tripel... not ... it is...

you can look at a tripel as a "type" of Belgian Strong Pale Ale...

Fairly much splitting hairs, tripels have more to do with the style of brewing process, even so many taste similar, others do not. It's a diverse world that styles don't always nail down.. and if there's one thing about Belgian brews it's the amount of diversity that is really running the gammit.

I've been holding onto an allagash barrel aged triple. Was just thinking this morning that I should drink it with friends around the holidays. Now I'm definitely doing it. Hope it's as good as everyone is saying it is!

Dragonmead Tripel. For me though no tripel will come close to Westmalle.
