For me Great Lakes is an incredible variety case, as well as Founders and Troegs. Each has a line-up of incredible beers, and I can find all three in the mid-$30 price range, if not cheaper.

I'm curious on everyone else's thoughts. For me, nothing beats a variety case. Buying by the case is such a good value by price, and if I ever buy a case of just one style/type of beer, I get bored so easily. I wish more breweries would have more widely available variety cases, thought I understand that it's more expensive to split cases into the variety style.

NJ mainly has variety 12packs instead of cases

I also like variety cases, though good ones are difficult to come by. I think you hit on some good ones. I would add Sierra Nevada Beer Camp and Southern Tier's Imperial mix pack. Tommyknocker's also isn't bad, along with Two Brothers and Weyerbacher's Big Beer case. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Variety packs never really do it for me because there's always at least one or two styles that I'd otherwise never, ever purchase so in that case why not just but multiple four or six packs of the stuff that i really want.

Though i guess in some cases there may be certain beers that brewery ONLY packages in a variety pack.

both of the Great Divide 12 packs. Beer Camp, but not the easiest find or available for long at all.
