Bourbon and French Oak. Loved Bois in French Oak and I love everything in Bourbon.

Tequila barrels really work for me, at least with Sours.

Had a few gin barrel aged saisons, which have been pretty amazing.

Sofie is my favorite readily accessible barrel-aged beer of all time, overall barrel-aged top beer is Fred's Blend.

I had a rep for a major craft brewery tell me that it makes no difference whatsoever what barrel (bourbon) you put your beer in because it will all taste the same. Smh.

Enjoy Rum, Bourbon, Tequila, ... for me, bourbon barrels are always a winner but it depends on the style. The brewery art is being able to blend the right base beer in the right barrel for the right amount of time.

Probably DiGianna Grappa Barrels from the LoCastricco Winery near Firenze, Italy. Specifically, serial nos. H7-236658.1 through H7-236658.7 (barreled 10/7/2012, dumped 12/20/2014 with distillate made from the pomace of a Ghost Winery somewhere in the lower alpine region of Trentino. This specific barreling was distilled from pomace using only young, dead-arm, third-harvest Sangiovese grapes that survived a black moon frost (look it up). Adds unbelievable dark fruit, must, and peppery anise notes to a barrel-aged RIS, especially when double-barreling with third-use Jamaican Rum barrels, or Heaven Hill bourbon barrels from the second floor of section 2 of rickhouse 6B.

Rum barrels top the list for me, bourbon is good but I love the sweet caramel flavors given off by rum...

Barrels full of wild yeasts and souring bacteria, the previous contents of which have been long since forgotten.

on the other hand, agave maria was the worst.
