They´re very available, you can get lots of germans like Paulaner, Benediktiner, Erdinger, Monschoff, Kapuziner, Oettinger and some others right in the super market. Also belgian like Duvel, Boscoli, Carolus, Chimay. The usual Guinness and some nice english beers like St Peter´s line. Recently a belgian company bought corona and now we get Leffes and some others.

I put 5%(-/+), so I just rounded it up to the next whole percentage. Silly and a little contradictory I know.

I'm fine with my tolerance now. I really don't enjoy multiple beers in a sitting very often and I average just 2 beers per week (usually at dinner with my girlfriend on weekends). I enjoy a light buzz but that's it.

Sours (particularly Gueuzes/Lambics), SNPA, Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro (6%), a number of hoppy APAs, and Hefeweizens. Quite a number of beers, really, even if my favorite range tends to fall into stouts and single IPAs (~6-9%).

People are hittin' the nail on the head with Weihenstephaner hefe. For dark stuff, Sierra Nevada Stout. And for hoppy stuff, Alpine Hoppy Birthday, Ballast Point's Grunion, heck even Firestone Walker Pale 31 and Deschutes Mirror Pond, both of which are 5.0% exactly or under. Oh, and a nice helles lager too like Victory Helles, Ninkasi Lux, etc.

Yeah I was bummed when I heard that too. :slight_frown: I thought Bitter American was respected enough that it didn't need to chase the session IPA marketing angle... guess not. People need to get off the obsession with the name IPA and follow their tastes... "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet..."

Cavu from NoDa is a solid brew... but to be honest I rarely fuck with anything under 7.5%.

At 5.4%, the Weihenstephaner beer is far too strong for me to drink much of. I would be drunk after three 500ml bottles and into binge drinking amounts of alcohol (8.1 UK units of alcohol). Similarly, one would be pretty tipsy after a few bottles of some of the other beers mentioned such as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (5.6%) and the Stout (5.8%).

I had FW Easy Jack this weekend a couple of times, and even though I don't love the "session IPA" trend, enjoyed the beer.
