    Limited release. CW 1414. Perfection.

Widely available. CW BBS. No hype, yet.

Because KBS falls in my personal top 3, it probably gets the nod. I will echo the sentiments of those mentioning BA Boris. About 6 months ago, I had a 2 year old bottle and it ranks among the best bottles of beer I've had the pleasure of enjoying.

Epic's Big Bad Baptist is a real treat. Be great to see how this gets with some age to it.

Ive had Naked Evil and Curmudgeon's Better Half. Now I know thats only two, but as far as im concerned these two beers are just as expensive, no more accessible, and not obviously better.

So my questions is, which Bourban Barrel Barleywines are better than KBS, CBS, BCBS, etc.?

Amazing beer but an anomaly, due to the Belgian yeast.
Old ale not a barleywine, though that's admittedly somewhat arbitrary. What's more important though is that it's specifically not amazing.

Kuhnhenn BBBW is my favorite, by a mile. (Also, if we're counting old ales, BB4D in a photo finish.)

A mile down the road, though, is personal newcomer Alpine Great. King Henry follows closely behind.

Basically, barleywines are far more complex (IMO).

If you want an easier to get stellar BA barleywine, Central Waters' is pretty terrific.

EDIT - Thought CW distributed to IN, woops. Well…it's easier to trade for, at the very least then.

Legend of the Liquid Brain from the Bull and Bush is flat out amazing stuff. It isn't bottled (...yet?) but I think it's my favorite.
Nothing wrong with Parabola and normal 'ol Bourbon County either.

Woops, §ucaba! (a.k.a. The artist formerly known as "Abacus") Another amazing one, and much better than Parabola.

I've had 11 and 12 KBS, BBA Arcadia Shipwreck, New Holland Dragon's Milk, and BBA Plead the 5th by Dark Horse.

Plead the 5th, hands down. So big and ballsy, without that silly coffee/vanilla

I think for me it has to be a toss up between BCBS and BB Plead the 5th...they're opposite ends of the spectrum for me (sweet and not so sweet), and both amazing.

meh, i like them both, but i think parabola is superior.

it's all subjective, but i think the potential for bourbon barrel stouts is greater than barleywines. i like barleywines / old ales / scotch ales (all the same) more, but for me, bourbon barrel influence goes best with a full bodied stout.
