A stumbled upon a huge, dusty stockpile of a few of those in the Paradox line, along with a few Mikkellers. They are all in closeout, but still pretty expensive, $11 each. I haven't had a single Brewdog yet, because they are expensive and usually quite old (IPAs), around here.

I was wondering what you think of the whole Paradox line. I just got a Dog A in a trade and was thinking of getting a bunch of their stouts to maybe do a vertical with.

Is I beat you or I hardcore you still worth getting?

If you see dust on some expensive stuff that someone is trying to get rid of, but still have a ton off, do you ever point it out or try to haggle? I'm assuming it isn't kosher, but I was debating getting a bunch of them, so figured that might make it more reasonable.

I had one of the Paradox Islay beers and it wasn't that great. Not sure why they're selling for $10-$15 at all. Too thin, not enough body.

I don't know anything about the stouts, but I would not purchase a "dusty stockpile" of IPA's. That's for damn sure.

Yeah, I will probably just get the Devine Rebel, which sounds like a nice barleywine.

Dude, I got Paradox Arran and Jura from their online store and they were both Fantastic IMHO. I would definitely close out on it, but thats just me.

I saw all of them pass through, (over a year ago now that I think about it) and since every brewdog beer I've had sucked, I didn't wanna gamble on any of these guys at 14.99 when parabola and abyss are right next to it for cheaper. At the time there were. I reviews for them yet. Even tho they did sound tasty, their track record speaks for itself.

I would liken a lot of their higher octane brews to those of Avery. If you are a fan of Mephistopheles, Samael's, the Beast, The Czar, or Uncle Jacob's, then you will probably dig most of BrewDog's stouts. They tend to be incredibly complex, but definitely boozy and sweet. But if that's your thing, then you will dig it. I too would most definitely go for Parabola or Abyss NO QUESTION, however BrewDog gets a lot of undeserved hate IMHO. I think that that some call them "a boozy mess," but I call it "high octane happiness."

All up to your palate. Oh, and FWIW Brewdog SD Scotch Ale and Brewdog Abstrakt AB11 were two of the best beers I've ever had. But then again, I had my second bottle of SD scotch ale, and it was infected, soooooooo ya.

    Okey,

Their Paradox serie is really good. Older bottles are 10 % and newer 15 %. 5 % more means, that those are more sweet and there is more body. If you prefer that, try newer. If you don't care that much sweetness, older(s) might be better alternative.

Many of them are aged peated whisky barrel, so there is quite much peat on flavor.

I like those a lot. I think you should try some. Their IPAs are also ok, but I certainly prefer some of their other stuff.

I have had batch 016 – not bad but not worth the price
Batch 010 – way, way too peated & I like peated whisky, like drinking kerosene with pure peat – maybe if you are a hardcore peat fan this is good
Drink the Dog A quickly it is already over the hill now, very obvious vintage notes etc. in a bad way

Hop Breakfast & Beer geek bacon are great if you like the style & are likely to survive some age esp. Bacon

I beat you & I hardcore you are not bad, slightly comparable to the Punk IPA but much better. Might survive some age – esp. I hardcore you

Don’t think that I have ever seen bottles with dust in a store – did buy some stuff from cellars which was absolutely filthy a couple of times but those were usually lambic’s etc.

Buying several of their stouts doesn't make it a "Vertical" but if you're going to buy any of them, buy the stouts/barleywine/etc. and stay away from the IPAs.

As far as haggling is concerned, it's only kosher in the presence of a Rabbi.

Glen Grant was phenomenal, I picked up two bottles of this a month or two ago at one of my local stores. Wish I had bought them out after opening it.

Punk IPA has been variable, my favourite, 5AM Saint, sadly has been hard to find. Bashah was fine on cask, the rest have been so much meh or not worth the moolah IMO.

The original 10% Arran batch was prob the best for me, but I'm aging the Arran 15% for a while longer. I agree that Brewdog gets a lot of hate, very much the same way that Dogfish Head does. But like Dogfish Head, they keep shit interesting. Not everything they do works, some of it just sucks. But some it actually works. I give them respect for pushing it, especially on this side of the pond. My favourite would have to be My Name is Ingrid, yes the IPA with "cloudberries".

Isle of Arran was pretty tasty, but I only grabbed it when it was like 4 bucks on sale at Total Wine. It was good if you like scotch. 4 years and still tasted like scotchy scotch scotch. i shudder at the thought of what it tasted like fresh.

I thought it would be considered a vertical since they are all the same stout base but aged in different barrels. What exactly is a vertical? I know that different vintages and stuff like Stone's Vertical Epics are verticals, but what exactly constitutes a vertical then?
