Out in NM (where the high desert heat should give us dozens of options.. but not really. We're still a Macro AAL/import corona type of area by and large):

Two locals bucking that trend just a touch:

I'm a sucker for Marble Pilsner (lowly rated by most it seems, but one of the most decorated beers in NM, medal and awards wise).

Year round availability, although the IPA and RED ale seem to take the most shelf space at a variety of places. So this ones a touch hard to actually find. Which leads me to liking what SN has done with Nooner Pils. Not quite in cans yet, but the bottles are much more readily available. It seems like its a hellish process to try and get this marble pils on tap in any location. It's sad because it's quite good.

On a seasonal status (3-4 months out of the year) Santa Fe Brewing has their Freestyle Pilsner

Pretty much my go to from mid april to late July. Then it's no longer available. I'd buy it year round.. This one too, seems to hit the out of state markets (9 states away from NM I believe) quicker than it seems to surface in Albuquerque. And when it's here, rarely is it at every place that traditionally has their year rounders.

Seemingly normal beers that are nearly too hard to buy on a whim. SN Nooner has that availability factor down.

If you're within the Santa Fe brewing footprint, give their pils a shot.

On a related note, Bitburgers 4x16oz cans are a real nice value (when you can find them). Pilsner Urquell sits here. May be too skunky. No sign of Firestone Walker (love their pivo) or Victory, Prima Pils is quite awesome. I love a slight sweet bite, and the two locals so far don't provide it. So a third option would be great.

Oskar Blues Little Yella is around but I found it more expensive and less fresh than the local options.

Sierra Nevada with Nooner Pils just may take over the marketplace for pilsners here, where that style of beer should reign supreme.

Good to know. My local place still only had Easy Jack and Union Jack as of today, but that'll be there soon enough I'm sure.

12oz would be just fine with me. Put it in 12 packs and we're cooking with gas.

Lately, I've really been enjoying the cans of Stoudts Pils.

Smuttynose Vunderbar is now in cans but I've never had this beer. I'd like to try it.

I agree, the stout is great on cask. A bartender from northern England once told me that their bitter was quite good - that's a nice endorsement (and I'd agree). Enjoy the fest today. Wish I was attending.

Great news. I've not seen those yet and will be looking for them.... Any idea when they started canning that beer?

Maybe this is just semantics but I don't think IBU comparisons, which measure bitterness only and not hop flavor, and as we know the bitterness largely comes from early additions whose flavor and aroma are largely volatilzed out during the lengthy boil most pilseners use, really have much to do with his/her point, which is about "hoppiness" rather than just bitterness, and may involve a complaint about excess (in his/her opinion) hop aroma and flavor, or the source of hop aroma and flavor (I.e., not esclusively Saaz, in his/her opinion). So I think everybody is talking past each other here.

Apologies if this has already been sorted in later posts I didn't read before posting.

Thanks, no apologies needed, and there was indeed some talking past each other going on. It did actually get sorted out a bit in later posts once I figured out that his complaint in his first post actually stemed from Saaz not being the only hop used in an American brewed German-style Pils beer and that by too hoppy he meant "the wrong hop flavors and aromas." But it did take me a bit to connect those dots since he was comparing a Czech Pilsener with that American brewed German-style Pils, and part of what differentiates the German style from the Czech style is relative prominance of the Saaz in one but not in most examples of the other.

Bought a six-pack in NJ a little over two weeks ago. I frequent the store pretty regularly and it was the first time I had ever seen it there in cans. Best by date says 9/19/15. Purely speculating here, but my guess is they're giving it a shelf life of 6 months which means it would have been canned on 3/19.

This looks incredibly appealing to me. PA has a rich history of Germans doing good things with beer, and Stoudts is a good example of such. Cool glass too!

Thanks man! The glass is from Crate & Barrel. Not sure if they still carry it but I think it was just called "craft beer glass." It works well for light lagers and some wheat ales. Oh, and the beer in the glass is pretty damn good too.
