Clarksville, TN (Austin Peay) has Blackhorse Brewery - I'm quite fond of this one.
Louisville, KY (Louisville... boo!) has Against the Grain. Enough said here.

Great places that I wouldn't mind settling down in.

In college towns that I can think of, I like Terrapin in Athens. I'll have to see if I can find Creature Comforts' beers, next time I'm there.

I agree about Destihl in Normal, IL(cheers to that other poster, I once briefly attended Illinois State too). In addition, I liked Temperance in Evanston, IL(though Sketchbook, Smylie Bros, and Peckish Pig(latter has really great food too) were also good), Toppling Goliath in Decorah, IA(have never done a trip there, but am in the process of trying their beers I found while on a WI trip), and of course Bell's in Kalamazoo is great.

One of my favorites! My daughter was considering going there but chose McDaniel College in Westminster, MD instead. But luckily we drive past Selinsgrove on the way so it has become our regular stop. Just stopped Saturday and had the Dunkelweizen, which was superb. Also tried a 4 oz sample of their Wee Heavy and that was great too!

My favorite college town breweries I've been to are:

    Free State in Lawrence, KS
    Jackie O's in Athens, OH
    Upland in Bloomington, IN

As a side note, big cities do not count as "college towns." For those confused, here is a definition from Wikipedia:

"A college town or university town is a community (often a separate town or city, but in some cases a town/city neighborhood or a district) that is dominated by its university population. The university may be large, or there may be several smaller institutions such as liberal arts colleges clustered, or the residential population may be small, but college towns in all cases are so dubbed because the presence of the educational institution(s) pervades economic and social life. Many local residents may be employed by the university—which may be the largest employer in the community—many businesses cater primarily to the university, and the student population may outnumber the local population."

Have to give another nod to Logboat in Columbia, MO. Not only is it a really neat place/setup they are making pretty good beers. Can't wait to see were they are at in the next couple of years.

For purely "single college" towns, i.e. where students at one school are close to outnumbering permanent residents, Proclamation Ale Company about a mile from the URI campus in Kingston is the best/local one I can think of.

The only brewery in Mt. Pleasant, MI (home of Central Michigan University), that I'm aware of is Mountain Town Brewing Co.

Haha nice transfer. I went to Wentworth Institiute of Technology down the street. Now I live in Tucson and am moving back east soon. Absolutely beautiful here, I will miss Mount Lemmon for sure. Agreed with Dragoon, although Gentle Ben's/Barrio is more on campus than Dragoon (latter place has better beer hands down though)

1055, Borderlands, Thunder Canyon, Iron John's, Pueblo Vida and 1912 are all doing a great too. Never thought the desert would have such tasty beer.

UC Santa Cruz Slugs + Sante Adairius is a nice combination. Back when I was an undergrad the local choice was Front Street Pub which brewed some fine ales.

Oregon State is opening a campus here (still much construction to do, but the inaugural class is this fall), and Central Oregon Community College has been here since 1949. Don't think that quite fits the typical definition of "college town", though. I'm cool with being known for beer and Mt. Bachelor before college kids get mentioned.

I went to UW in Seattle, which was an amazing place for craft beer even in the 90s, and has only exploded since. If I got a do-over to try something different, though, I'd have to choose Bellingham.
