Just thought it would be fun to call out some beer "rivalries" and state a fav. I'm being pretty general when I say "rivalvry"-- beers that seem to filll simalar niches or are otherwise similar in some way. I'll start with the first one that comes to mind: the "Ubiquitious Pale", no matter where you go or who you're with, there is a case nearby... SNPA vs. Deschutes Mirror Pond (I like SNPA) Any other match ups?
In the hoppy amber "is it IPA?" category, there is SN Celebration, SN Torpedo, SN Ruthless Rye, and Troegs Nugget Nectar. Celebration wins this battle imo.
For comparable "Rye PA's" I'll say: Bear Republic Rop Rod, Two Bro's Cane & Ebel and Founder's Red's Rye. In order of personal preference I'd say, 1.)Rop Rod 2.)Cane & Ebel and 3.)Red's Rye Although I'm a huge fan of all three and the degree's of separation are minuscule IMO.
Comparable IPAs -- Two-Hearted and Founders Centennial. Both are pretty readily available, but Two-Hearted wins hands down.
I'd add the companion comparison: winter-seasonal DIPAs from Michigan breweries -- Hopslam and Double Trouble. Again, Bell's gets the nod.
Hopslam and Double Trouble are directly "competing" I think that is what the OP is after, maybe. Hopslam and The Oracle is still a good comparison. I go Oracle there.
The competition between similar beers from rival breweries was indeed my motivation for the comparison. And I liked Hopslam more than Oracle, fwiw.
Stone Ruination vs. Hop Stoopid.... Way hard, and debatably an inappropriate match-up as Hop Stoopid is sweeter. Draw? Maybe... I'll say Hop Stoopid with a sight lead unless the Ruination is like 2-weeks-fresh.
3F Oude Geuze vs Cantillon Classic Gueuze. 3F is just a tad better with more mellow, deeper profile of funkiness.
