I had this conversation recently with Tim at Oxbow, but for all their special releases and cool shit they do with mixed fermentation and fruit, my go-to at Oxbow, my favorite beer of theirs is BAFPA. It’s always available, always well done.

I feel the same way about Curieux, I feel the same way about The Substance. Sometimes these flagships get overlooked because they’re so ubiquitous.

What are some of your favorite “core” beers? The ones that get less hype but are probably a brewery’s best option.

The Hill Farmstead shelfies — Anna, Florence, Arthur, etc. I’d still take a Samuel or Art or Flora over any of them, but for $12 they’re hard to beat, especially when they’re nearly always available.

This latest batch of Florence Puncheon is great, but at $18 for a 375ml, it’s 3x the cost per unit volume as regular Florence. And it’s not 3x better.

Another I’ve given shout outs to recently to the people behind the beer. I love Tod’s Pale Ale

Agree with your original post about BAFPA. Also don’t forget about 4 packs of Crossfade. Super nice too.

I assume this question is directed towards NE region breweries only. If so, my favorite core brews are

    Tired Hands Alien Church
    Workhorse Brewing Vienna Lager
    Yards Brewery Brawler
    Yards Brewery Washington’s Porter

I’m sure there is more but those are my favorite core brews from the NE region.

I have not seen this beer in many months. Do you think they will ever brew it again?

I have had many draft pints (lately via a Lukr side-pull faucet/tap) at Von C brewery this past summer. That beer is even better than the Workhorse brand for my palate.

    Cheers!

Hope so. It was their best offering for sure! Not too excited for their latest offerings. Eventually, I’ll get over their to pick up the lageriversary (spelling?).

Haven’t been to Norristown yet. Do they can this brew? I’ve seen Von C at Kunda Bev but passed as I limited my self to octoberfest brews

I would add Forest and Main here but I have no idea what core brews they have.

Yes, they do can their Vienna Lager.

I would encourage you to visit the brewery to drink this beer since IMO the side-pull pour accentuates this beer style.

    Cheers!

    Can never argue with SNPA.
Others on the list would be Jack's Abby's HU,
    Allagash white, Tripel and Curioux.
    Ommegang Abbey, Tripel and Hennipin.
    Harpoon IPA
And truth be told, if you can find Sam Adams Boston Lager fresh,. it's as good as any of the style.

von Trapp helles or kolsch. Lawson's Double Sunshine and Chinooker'd. And I'm not too proud to say Genny Cream Ale on a hot summer day.

Long Trail Ale by Long Trail Brewing Company.
It's an Altbier, a somewhat rare style.
I look at it as the Ale version of a Marzen, and I like Marzen.
Double Bag is even better, I think.
I don't see other Long Trail Beers very often, occasionally their IPAs show up.
    Interesting topic, Cheers.

The Helles, hell yeah. The Kolsch, I don't see it as a core Beer, I have been looking for that one and the Berliner Weisse in Rhody and southern Mass. with no luck.

Maybe thinking about Three Philosophers? Which is a confusing name for a quad.
