Just wondering what people like to send out as extras around here? I'm in CO but don't want to exclude anyone so feel free to chime in. What is your "go to"?

I usually include plenty of Crooked Stave, Trinity, occasionally Funkwerks and River North. Those are usually my go-to extras. Depending on who's getting the box, I'll include some fresh Modus / Dry Dock / Prairie as well... If it's a great, regular trader...I'll drop in some harder to gets (Bligh's, Avery releases, Perennial stouts, etc...)

Crooked Stave, Dry Dock DIPA, fresh Alesmith IPA or Myrcenary (or lots of St. Lup if it's in season), sometimes Renegade, Telluride or Black Shirt cans. Depends also where they are located and what they get locally there.

The old Grand Lake scotch ale (Plaid Bastard) used to be. Before they fell off it was great. One of the best of that style.

Crooked Stave, AC Golden, River North, Funkwerks, Trinity, etc. . . Really try and stick to breweries that don't see distro out of CO, but if they do I make sure its just a small imprint and not to the state I am sending.

depends on the style of beer they like. Sours/ saisons I send some Crooked Stave, although with their expanding distribution that isn't as much a treat any longer. Stouts I do Hammer Sickle (Renegade) or Mexican Chocolate (Copper Kettle). Barrel Aged I like using River North as previously mentioned. Gotta throw in some Odell 4 pack bottles or IPA as well. Trinity is also a fun one to throw in the hat from time to time.

It just seems like so many of our beers are $18 bombers and it's tough to send out a couple of different things when they cost so much and I'm doing a smaller trade. Odell is always good but i have to watch their distribution.

I use to send out Golden City Evolution IPA as an extra. But that beer just isn't the same sine Jeff left.

Seekabrew is a great resource for what your trading partner gets in their state. I try to include something that they cant just go to the local store and buy. Being up in New England is nice, heady toppers are usually always a well received extra.

From Seattle area I tend to include stuff from Reuben's, Black Raven, Fremont, Commons, Upright (depending on distro), Logsdon, Hair of the Dog, Sound Brewing, Silver City, sometimes growlers of Boneyard. People also seem to really dig Tsunami Stout from Pelican, Ching Ching from Bend brewing. If people like lagers, I'll add a bunch of Heater Allen; at $5 a bomber, you can give some variety. There are so many good, inexpensive beers out here extras are easy.

I send locals that I think are under-rated. Anything I drink regularly goes as an extra. And I appreciate it when someone does the same. Always a nice surprise.

Depends on the trade, but I've sent everything from Expedition, FBS, FIS, Two Hearted, etc. (all of which are fairly wide-distribution shelf beer in these parts) to Black Note, KBS, BBPT5, etc. I end up giving more thought to the extras usually than to the trade itself; it's kind of fun to guess, "hmmmmm...what's this cat going to like?". Factors I consider are: (a) the other guy's Wants list (and the styles therein), (b) the other guy's distro, (c) local to MI, (d) relative size of the trade, and (e) room in the box.
