It is the Dunkelweizen. The bottle says hefeweissbier dark and dunkel. I assumed that dunkel was an abbreviation for dunkelweizen? Following the conversation here I'm not so sure now.

Yeah, they're two different types of beer; a dark hefeweizen and a dark lager. Like I mentioned upthread, the Munich Dunkel (lager) is much harder to come by. But absolutely perfect for fall days . That's why I'd love to have another quality choice available. If you can get Ayinger Altbairisch you should definitely give it a shot. Cheers!

Here in WI, for me it's Capital Autumnal Fire. I normally wait until the first full college football weekend to break into Fall beers...but the temps were in the low 70's last week and I caved early. I regret nothing.

Also, Founders Breakfast Stout, Great Lakes Nosferatu.

Thanks for the clarification. I did not know that. I have had the warsteiner mentioned above, but I was very young and was not aware of either style then.

Sierra Nevada releases Narwhal in September. That makes it my favorite Fall beer.

I like brown ales and dark lagers. My favorite brown ale is upslope, unfortunately they don't distribute too far and I haven't made a Colorado run for too long. For dunkels I normally just drink some local dunkels and schwarzbiers, but I might need to try to get weihenstrphaner.

porters, browns. but imo a perfect time for my fav style english pales/bitters made with traditional malts and hops. dont get me wrong, i love their american pale ale cousins as well...but something about a fullers esb or the like in the fall is just perfect for me.

It won't feel like fall here for another two months; it's 105° right now. Stop rushing things!

In all seriousness: Fresh hop beers. Mostly IPAs.

I don't have a favorite fall beer. I do look forward to trying and being disappointed by new Octoberfests every fall!

Ooh, definitely Moonglow! Picked up my first 4-pack over the weekend, and it seems to be the best version in a few years.
