For my money SNPA & Red Chair are IPA's. Deschutes calls Red Chair a "Northwest Pale Ale", which just means that it's a very hoppy example of it's style, our brewers tend to have a heavy hand with the hops, regardless of the style. My go-to IPA is FW Union Jack. My go-to Pale Ale is Mirror Pond, which is nowhere near as hoppy as SNPA.

Coronado - Dumb Blonde, Deschutes - Hop Trip, Fresh Hop Mirror Pond and Red Chair are all super solid.

Not sure if you get Long Trail down there, but I've liked Long Trail's Pale Ale, its sweet yet hoppy. Goes down well. Just my opinion.

Wicked good indeed, are you a former Masshole? Usually only people from MA use wicked as an adjective.

Founders All Day IPA, if it makes it there, it is around 5% and has a great fresh hoppy flavor. It has become a new favorite for me.

Red Chair was better when it was an IPA that was in the bomber only format.

Although I lived in Boston for a while, my use of "wicked" traces back to my roots in north central Vermont, somewhere between the present-day Alchemist and Hill Farmstead. In fact, my father grew up near the Hill farmstead before Shaun made it Hill Farmstead.

Maybe I should have said a New England thing, I generally get called out for using 'wicked'. That would be a great place to live, so nice up there.

You are correct, it's well above the ABV the OP is asking for but it is one #$%@ hoppy IPA (Imperial Pale Ale not India Pale Ale) and one that can definitely be acquired in the area where the OP lives during the right time of year. If it wasn't hoppy enough for you, you had an old one...the case I had was bottled three days before I bought it and the hops were huge.

Fresh its got a decent hop profile, but I agree with you in that its more like an English IPA and has a significant malt flavor. I more listed it because its one of my personal favorite pale ale's and its hoppy to a certain extend. (albeit much less hoppy than brews like Zombie Dust, Dales, ect.)
