It's a toss up between Carton Boat and Tired Hands Hophands. If we can push it above 6% it's Trillium Fort Point, my favorite hoppy beer of any style right now.
It's whatever the brewer wants to call it. What's the difference between a session ipa and an American Pale Ale?

Tough to find IPA's that are good and under 6.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned 21st Amendment's Bitter American.

So far, Stone go to ipa. Very good to me. Kind of watery like others say, but to me it's like an enjoy by " light "

Short's kills it with low ABV IPAs. Hopstache and Stellar Ale are two of my favorite IPAs and both clock in under 6%.

Just a shame that Greene King IPA is awful.

I guess you would characterize this as sessionable IPA's. My 2 favorites are Stone Go To IPA and a great local beer made by Burley Oak that I believe is considered a brown session IPA called El Camino

It's a strange thing, I normally don't drink it if there's anything else on offer. But when I do drink it , when well kept I find it's actually a decent pint.
In 2004 , in a blind tasting it won a class award in the Great British Beer Festival and was runner up to being Champion Beer of Britain. This didn't go down too well with many CAMRA members but by all accounts it was all done fairly.
Incidentally the Bros rated it at 93% (outstanding)
