I tried the vanilla at the tap takeover at Barcade in Jersey City. I thought it was excellent on draft, not sure if the bottle was any different. I would rank them, vanilla, regular, cacao, coffee.

Did he happen to mention whether or not there would be a reasonable distribution process for variants this year? (i.e. sub 1 case limits)

This is our largest bottle release to date. In total there are over 3,000 bottles so we should have bottles at the brewery for a while. There is no limit on the A Night To End All Dawns bottles and we will limit the variants to one case of each per person just to be sure but we don't anticipate running out Saturday

you sound like someone who didn't actually, you know, GO to the release. Since they dropped limits on variants to 6pp 20 minutes before go-time

@markgugs is correct re: bottle limits for variants. If I recall correctly, at closing time there were a couple of cases of regular left and no variants.

OK, I didn't go. Sorry I flippantly referred to what was publicly available info. Sorry ever even read this thread.

if it makes you feel any better, this year's release is sure to be a shitshow, I have zero doubt that people will be lined up by 8am, and I'm also confident limits on variants will be 2pp, at most (unless they've got a surprising amount of ANTEAD lined up to bottle this year).

**this is my educated speculation, nothing more**

No, doesn't make me feel any better since I'm planning on trying to get there this year. I haven't been to a big party down there since last year's Port Omna thing, but I've been reading about how much nuttier they've been getting. I just have my fingers crossed for some lessons learned and a well run event (I didn't go, but a friend of mine was keeping me updated with texts throughout).

Also sorry to come off like a dick... I have a head cold and it's making me ornery.

Yes, that's correct. My group left between 3:30 and 4 and there were at least a dozen cases of the Regular left. Quite a few people that had been standing in line for hours left when they announced that was all that was left. Seemed silly to me since they didn't have to walk away empty handed. Overall, fantastic beer and I had no issues with the way it went (I only got the Regular) and I am sure that Kane will learn from the experience (if I remember correctly they already moved the bottle release location to the loading dock so that people that just wanted samples could do so).
