Had a damn good Gordon Biersch Marzen a couple days ago that brought me back to a German beer mood.

Rauchbiers. They're really hard to find, and I think they're delicious.

Sinebrychoff Porter from Finland is another excellent Baltic Porter!

Heard nothing but great things about Yards. Dying to give them a try...

I'll second zwickelbier or kellerbier. Southampton makes a great one - Urban Chestnut makes an outstanding zwickel.

I assume, given your vote for Dortmunder, you've checked out Urban Chestnut? Not sure if they do a Dortmunder, but they make some stellar German-style lagers - their zwickelbier is stellar and their hefe is really nice as well.

I'm with you. Love me some Anchor Steam. We just got our first local version a few months ago. (I'll also put in a vote for smoked porter.)

Roggenbier is what I would like to see more of..especially those like the German examples that I have had with plenty of rye bread taste.

I'm actually surprised that my desires mesh so well with what others are pining for. All this time I thought I was alone.

I'm a sucker for a good weizenbock. Eisbocks too.

Helles lager, Munich dunkel lager, any well made German or Czech lager really.

    English bitter, mild, ESB.

Tough to find American made dubbels/quads/BSDAs/whatever that stack up to the imports.

This is what sucks about the current insatiable thirst for IPAs among the average craft consumer. It's driving brewers to brew what there is a perceived demand for instead of maybe taking a risk. The average craft consumer these days is a follower though. They don't set the trends. I wonder what would happen if Tree House and Hill Farmstead brewed nothing but English bitter for a month.

Most of my favorite beer styles are styles that aren't in great supply here. I hope it stays that way. My willpower is terrible. If the market saw a sudden spike in Kolsch production, I'd be compelled to try every last one of them. My wallet and health would suffer, and chances are they'd mainly be half-hearted brewing attempts anyway. On top of that, the likelihood of old product clogging up the shelves will increase. It's not really in my best interest.

Well if that's your favorite, it's hard to think of a better fit for the Mad Scientist Series. Eisbocks fit the theme so well. Did you do this yet? Is it possible?

Nah. I drink American beer because I live here (always did). I drink European beer because there's more to life than America. My gluttony puts me nicely in the American stereotype. Why did you ask?

    Rauchbiers and dampfbiers.

(Others have posted gose, quads, english barleywines, saisons and while I love all those styles, I do find them in CO pretty easily. I would agree and advocate for making them even more prevalent though.)

Has an American brewery EVER bottled a dampfbier?
