Here in Charlottesville, VA are two very solid newish breweries, Champion and Three Notch'd. Champion does a lot of very interesting one-off beers in addition to their core lineup (all of which is solid, especially the Killer Gose and Missile IPA). One offs I've particularly enjoyed include the Habenero IPA and St. Peter's Imperial Stout.

Three Notch'd has a great double IPA called Killer Angel, their flagship IPA 40 Mile is very solid and their No-Veto Brown is excellent even for a non-brown ale guy like me.

As said before, Kane and Carton are the sexy new kids in town with not much else to choose from.

Flying Fish has a solid beer or two as well.

I think here in Seattle that Elysian and Pyramid are great and I'm able to find them everywhere but my favorite has to be Georgetown Brewery. I don't know how far out they distribute and they don't bottle but when I find Lucille on tap I am set.
