I'm pretty sure there are 2 states between Cali and Colorado. But Nevada isn't a great beer state. Ha. Utah, save uinta, too.

And here I thought everyone was gonna follow my thread guidelines... Stupid Jeff, Stupid Jeff.

I know you've had Dog's Bollocks cavedave, whats your comparison to Weyerbacher's Insanity?

Insanity is my fave from Weyerbacher for years now. Gotta say Dog's Bollocks is even better.

You are aware that Dan Hitchcock, RD's head brewer, is from Weyerbacher, I assume, to ask that question?

Hmm.. I live in the St. Louis (MO) metro-east, and St. Louis breweries show the area a lot more love than the Chicago breweries, so I feel weird saying Missouri. Three Floyd's pulled out of the area a few years ago, so Indiana's off the table. Haven't had any Toppling Goliath, so I can't say Iowa.

Guess I'll go with Wisconsin, New Glarus is great, Central Waters and Lakefront too, and I've enjoyed the Ale Asylum I've had. Gotta love how well NG takes care of the state as well.

    Yes
Thanks, I was hoping you would chime in, I love RD (and know you do too), but I knew you would have a more succinct argument for Weyerbacher than mine. I don't feel capable of talking about a beer I liked (Dog's Bollocks) in a style I'm not very experienced in.

The IPA / DIPA / PA / (red) IPA's / they have made have been spectacular, and even styles I don't generally seek out ( English Strong Ale, English Barleywine, Belgian Strong Dark Ale, have all been great as well.

With apologies to Victory, Weyerbacher, and Troegs, my vote easily goes to Michigan. So much great beer there. Bell's and Founders get all the attention (deservedly so), but the MI roster runs so much deeper than the PA roster.

Indiana has a few excellent breweries but as a state can't keep up with PA or MI. WV...can't think of any beer from there. I have little experience yet with KY breweries.

Ohio. Followed by NY. Far behind are Maryland and Delaware, which is essentially Flying Dog vs Dogfish Head, both of which tend to underwhelm but Flying Dog gets the nod.

No I realize that CA and CO don't share a border but CA doesn't have many neighboring states that make great beer except Oregon. I just have more beers I like from Colorado. BFD.

Never had any Surly or other popular breweries in Minnesota so that state's out. Same situation for Illinois. I've never had Half-Acre, Piperworks, or other standouts (besides GI). Two Brothers is awesome, though.

So I'll have to go with Wisconsin because of New Glarus. That brewery is god-like. Along with the almighty Pabst.
