So many to choose from and many great ones already mentioned. BCBS is an obvious and still super worthy choice I think. Love black note. Total sleeper, mentioned once earlier, Anchorage Darkest Hour. Here’s another oldie but goodie: midnight sun berserker!

Eclipse stouts are pretty badass but for the same money you could pickup a four pack of central waters BA stout AND I dunno, a pipe works bomber or something.

I don’t know about SR71/Assassin, but the rest are all brewed with adjuncts.

    BCBS (roasted barley)
    Dragon’s Milk (flaked barley)
    BBA Dark Star (oats)

Also, for what it’s worth, I think Big Bad Baptist uses roasted barley, but coffee and cacao nibs are not adjuncts.

Here are my favorites, in order -

    Avery Uncle Jacob's
    Goose Island BCBS
    Surly BA Darkness
    Mikkeller Whiskey Barrel X
    New Holland Dragon's Milk
    Firestone Walker Parabola
    3 Sheeps The Wolf

Also, maybe the OP can clarify, but I think most people think adjuncts are something added to the base or BA beer to change the flavor, such as coffee, cocoa, vanilla, honey, berries, molasses, etc.

My interpretation of this thread is wanting to discuss stouts that are barrel aged with no additional ingredients added; meaning, he's wanting to exclude the Fundamental Observations, Big Bad Baptist (coffee, cocoa), BA Speedway Stouts (coffee+), some BCBS variants (berries, coffee, vanilla, etc.), Prairie beers (full of them), etc.

Another example: Fyodor (non-adjunct) vs Mikhail (Fyodor + coffee)

Bro, those are perceived flavors, not adjuncts. Those flavors are coming from some of the different base ingredients used to make beer, such as the malt, yeast, and hops used.

    Uncle Jacobs = no adjuncts
    Tweak = adjuncts (coffee)
Callipygian = a shitload of adjuncts

I agree that the OP seems to be looking more for Barrel-aged Stouts with no flavor additions, but coffee is not an adjunct.

Very Popular BA stouts that I'm not a huge fan of:
    BA Darkness
    Parabola
KDS (although I like both variants, oddly)

Not to be picky, but I believe No Hope for Rescue has molasses added, from what I remember from the side label. I agree that it's an amazing beer; wish I'd caught it in the initial sale! Bought one at the release (1pp) and then had to trade for another. Haven't touched either yet, but I loved the coffee version on tap.

Also, did you mean BA Rescue Buoy or BA No Hope for Rescue?

Edit. BA no hope for rescue . You might be right on the molasses. Can't remember, had it last October. Hell of a big beer

Parabola and Velvet Merkin are tops to me. Even over the far more limited and pain to acquire ones.

Supposedly BA Ten Fidy isn't what it once was, but it used to be really top notch.

BA Yeti is great as long as it isn't infected. They were a crapshoot for years, but have dialed things in recently.

While a bunch of the Catador releases have additives galore, there are some really good "plain" barrel aged stouts from the last two line-ups.

Funny, nobody has said KBS, which in my opinion is completely overrated. Doesn't it age poorly too?
