Favorite Non-Imperial Stout

Sierra Nevada Stout currently, although I admit I haven't delved too deeply into stouts yet...

 

FW- Velvet Merlin
SN- Stout
Mayflower- Winter Oatmeal Stout

 

Hard to name an absolute favorite. Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, Left Hand Milk Stout and Sam Adams Cream Stout are probably my top contenders.

I'm not sure I drink too many non-imperial stouts...which makes me a little uncomfortable quite frankly! I need to expand my horizons a bit more. That said, I'll second Backmasking, and add Moloko.

 

Another vote for SS Oatmeal Stout- it was one of the first stouts I had ever had years back, and it's still one of my favorites

 

I just tried Shake from Boulder Brewing and thought it was great as well as Breckenridge Brewery Vanilla Porter.

Sierra Nevada Stout is amazing and can be had most anywhere
Schlafly Coffee Stout
4 Hands Chocolate Milk (used to hate this but its grown on me, plus the variants are good)

I'm boycotting Left Hand after the whole "nitro" trademark thing

 

Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout. One of the few beers I rated a perfect 5.

Terrapin Moo Hoo, Duck Rabbit Milk stout, Highland Brewing Black Mocha stout

 

DFH Chicory stout is nice, the line of non-imp. stouts from Dark Horse are always pretty great too.

 

MZ and Huna are imperial. I know, picky, picky.

 

As long as we're adding porters into the mix.

I had Duck Rabbit Milk Stout when we were in Asheville earlier this year, and it was very, very good. Good call.

It comes in at 7.2 ABV and says imperial, but I classify it at just between. Darn tasty!
