i got there around 9 bc i wanted to check out some other events and get food before hand and it was a mob scene in there (which i kind of expected). we had a pint of what is enlightenment and took off.

could have hung out for another one so i could try the strength and solitudes, but my girlfriend was over it after being dragged all over the city for a week straight lol.

I was there too. I had to back out of the TND event on Saturday, so I made a last minute effort to get to Boiler Maker. Didn't get there until 9:30 or so. Was able to have everything I wanted. Cool place, great beer.

I thought the Hill Farmstead event at Teresa’s Next Door was OUTSTANDING! I got there at 1:30 and there was indeed a crowd but I never felt uncomfortable and I never had to wait long to get a beer. Below is what I posted in the other Philly Beer Week thread:

“I had the Myth of Saison at the Hill Farmstead event at Teresa’s Next Door. It was very good. I had lots of other Hill Farmstead beers. Needless to say but they are also very good. I had a chance to talk to Shaun Hill for 5-10 minutes. He is a great guy and needless to say a great brewer.

An extremely nice event at Teresa’s Nest Door. It was well attended but I never felt ‘crowed’.”

    Cheers!

Yeah, that Rook & Leer was really good. The smoked malt, peat whiskey and brett notes combined to create a really unique flavor profile. My favorite was the Bakker vort Brouwer(Port/Bowmore Cask). Really smokey but with tons of sweet, silky chocolate malt making it incredibly smooth. I can't believe that that beer is 13.5%. I really liked that speyside quad as well. It provided a nice amount of sweetness that was a nice change of pace from all of the smokey/peaty flavors of the other beers. I wasn't able to try either of the Lief & Leeds or the Hout & Hop. What did you think of those?

Sounds like you were luckier than me. It took a good 15 minutes for me to get my first beer. After that, things went a lot more smoothly, though I think MsRif's willingness to flag down the bartender whenever I needed a beer might have had something to do with that.

I don't know Jack... the crowd at the bar down where I was standing was often two deep, and I never even saw Shaun Hill, let alone talked with him. No complaints though... I knew what to expect when I left Baltimore. All that aside, I still had a great time, as the Hill Farmstead beers are THAT good. In all honesty, I've yet to have anything less than a terrific time at every PBW event I've attended. I'm already looking forward to PBW 2013.

Attending the Hill Farmstead event at Teresa's Next Door showed me no one makes such an amazing array of hop-forward APAs comparable to HFB. Having the Citra, Edward, and What is Enlightenment? all in one afternoon was incredible. Of course, the IPAs and Saisons were great, too.

Hill Farmstead event at TND was outstanding. I arrived at 11:15 to wait in line outside. Couldn't stay long but did manage to have 4 or 5 great beers. Good conversation with some beer lovers from NY who were down for the day. I am in TND once a week. They do a great job!

Definately the Hill Farmstead event at Theresa's...Got there at 11 and tried all 4 beers that were pouring at the time as well as the collaboration beers. (Wheat is the New Hops was great, although only designed by Shaun Hill, not brewed). My roommate is a friend of their Philly rep so we got to chat with Shaun for a few minutes...Beer of the day was definately Abner. All the APA's were on point too...Had no problem with the crowds as we were sitting in a booth (get there early folks!). The "Heart Attack" on the specials menu was freakin delicious!

I didn't make it out there either. This is the first year that I didn't go to an event at Capone's. I was only off twice during the whole ten days and never got a chance because of other plans.

Delilah's had a few events this year (incl. Oskar Blues). They were on the HOG route as well for the Opening Tap ceremonial delivery.

Delilah's tried to do "events" a few years ago and they failed miserably. They had brewery reps set up in a vestibule area, not even in the club, pouring samples for folks who had absolutely no interest in what they had to offer and they ended up trying to send cases back to multiple wholesalers.

I could see doing a brewery tap take over, or maybe even putting on a few special beers during PBW, but asking brewery reps to visit and try to promote their beer is asking a bit much. I would liken this to a sports bar when game 7 of the NBA or NHL championship is on the tube. While most folks in attendance would probably appreciate the opportunity to drink and sample good beer, no one wants to listen to a brewery rep describing their new saison or IPA during the game. In that kind of environment, let's not kid ourselves. The focus is not going to be on the beer.

Does anyone think PB week should become PB month? That would give us all a lot more time to attend a lot more events rather than cramming everything into a week and having a bunch of conflicts on any given night.

Regarding my favorite, I only attended one event so that would be my favorite, the Capones Hop throwdown event. Hop 15, HF Citra, Mongo etc, etc.

that's what the other 51 weeks of the year are for. Have to spread it out a little.
