I've seen it mentioned a few times, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by Pikeland Pils, and Sly Fox in general. Decent beer, but nothing special.

My pils go to choices are usually Prima Pils, The Crisp, and Sunshine Pils. Dogfish did a good job with Piercing Pils, which is a nice new addition to their lineup.

Prima (Victory), Piercing (DFH), and Patio Pils (Cigar City) are my top 3. Go ahead and lump Jever in there too, because, well, Germany. DAS BOOT.

I thought Firestone Walker's Pivo pilsner was very good fresh on tap when I was down in TX in June. One of the best I've had. We get Firestone Walker beers in MD but have yet to see the Pivo pilsner anywhere.

I agree that Mama's was disappointing. I disagree that Scrimshaw is flat.
That said, this year's surprises for me were:
    Stoudt's and Peak Fresh Cut.
    Also enjoyed Saranac Wild Hop.

My favorite have been the recent hybrid pils from both Victory Noble IPA and Fat Head's Pseudo Pils...damn were these good. They both had German ale yeasts with pilsner ingredients light malt base and noble hops but fermented at cooler temps with lagering afterward both incredibly smooth and drinkable, and fuckin' hoppy!

I've always had a fondness for good Pilsners. All my favorites have already been already mentioned except Pinkus Müller Organic Ur Pils and Left Hand Polestar Pilsner. I had Sly Fox Pikeland Pils for the first time this weekend and thought it was excellent.

I'm actually the President, Founder, and Brewmaster. But I occasionally dabble in sales as well. :-)
given your taste we'll take that as a supreme compliment!

    What about the Crisp?

Spoken like a true Illinois-an (Illinois, Illini?) :-)

Yes the Crisp was really good as well. Splitting hairs between that one and Firestone Walkers. Both are very solid.

Jever (especially on tap). And Vermont Lager. Best in class. Prima Pils is amazing but wayyy too hoppy to be an everyday drinker.

I have gone through a few six packs of Community Texas Pils this summer, which is really good and something new for me this year. Maybe not my favorite made in TX. That would go to Live Oak Pils, Austin Beer Works Pearl Snap, Real Ale Hans Pils, and Saint Arnold Bohemian Pils (Wish SA would make more of that) are my favorites. FW Pivo Pils is almost always in my fridge as well. Doesn't matter the season.

I obviously need to try Jever and retry Prima.
Really wish I could get Pivo and Crisp in N.C.
I do drink Pilsners year round though certainly not exclusively.

Make sure the Jever is fresh. Those green bottles can be a killer and pilsners after a few months aren't the same.

Duly noted. They don't look too promising, not to mention expensive as heck here.

Some of these I've had before this year.....but that doesn't mean I didn't drink them this year too.

-Lammsbrau both in the bottle and on tap

    -Weihenstephan Pilsner on draft

    -Kulmbacher Pils on draft

    -Jever on draft

Where in NC are you? If you can get some Olde Mecklenburg Pils, it's a very good one.

Thanks, I will look for that!

Oh! Forgot to mention Great Lakes Wright as a standout that I found this year!
