I like and drink year around the Sa noble pils, and sometimes their lager. Brooklyn lager and pils. about it unless its imported...season don't effect me, because 1 I drink inside (95% of the time) and 2 we only have 2 here. lol

Mine hasn't really changed. Pikeland and Prima for domestic, and Konig or Jever (when available).

Enjoyed the rejuvenated Crisp, but that is no longer in the traditonal vain, and definitely Americanized (still awesome)

I haven't had it before this year. Have you had it before this year, and if so, have you found it to be noticeably better now?

Might as well represent the NW on this.

The Heater Allen pils and Upright's Engelberg pils are both outstanding and compare favorably with some of the best I've had from SEPA. Commons brewing (out of Portland) is making a pretty tasty pils as well, though I don't think it's in the same league as Heater Allen or Upright.

Upright's pils is truly outstanding. Outside of the Braumeister variations from Victory alluded to by Jackhorzempa, it's the best domestic pils I can recall ever having.

It's pretty hard to touch the Victory Braumeister stuff when it comes to high quality pils in the US.

This year I came to the realization of how much I love Oskar Blues’ pils. Took it for granted before. But I really love it. Probably my favorite domestic pils… at least at the moment :grinning:

Dissenter is fantastic but it's not a pils. Pale malts and a shit ton of hops yes, but not a pils. They call theirs an imperial pale lager (IPL) interchangeable with India Pale Lager depending on the level of alcohol.

When Southampton first introduced Keller Pils in 2010 their stated goal was to change up the recipe over subsequent years. Below are my impressions of previous year’s versions:

    · 2010 Keller Pils: a straw colored beer that was very hoppy (which hop?). I found this beer to essentially be an unfiltered, hoppy Pilsner. This was my personal favorite version of Keller Pils but I should caveat that I am partial to hoppy Pilsners (e.g., I really like Troegs Sunshine Pils, Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, Victory Prima Pils, etc.).

    · 2011 Keller Pils: amber colored with a very noticeable malt backbone. More lightly hopped than the 2010 version (which hop?). I considered this beer to be a Franconian Kellerbier. I liked this beer but liked the 2010 version better.

    · 2012 Keller Pils: golden colored with an excellent balance of hops (which hop?) and malt. This is the ‘perfect’ Keller Pils from a balance perspective but I preferred the unbalanced 2010 version.

    · 2013: golden colored beer. This beer is brewed in a very ‘clean’ fashion with no off flavors; having stated that this beer seems to lack character. I enjoyed drinking this beer but I was continually thinking: shouldn’t there be a bit more hops and/or a bit more malt backbone? I think that SBC did a fine job but I ‘wonder’ about the recipe. I think this is the first Keller Pils brewed without Phil Markowski supervising the beer (recipe). As for the above 3 beers: which hop is used for this beer?

IMO, the 2014 version was similar in nature to the 2012 version. I wonder which hop(s) they decided to use for the 2014 version?

    Cheers!

Tried this a few years back, and immediately after having my first bottle, I emailed the Boston Beer Company telling them what a fantastic rendition of a Pilsner they've created. I realize how challenging it is to make a Pilsner, so I REALLY appreciate when a brewer can pull it off. I look for these any new Pilsner to try, but like I mentioned, a lot of brewers seem to miss the mark in producing a really good Pilsner.

Duly noted. Substitute Dissenter with Breckenridge Imperial Pilsner....
