in various stores around Brooklyn the last few years, I've seen Sixpoint priced as low as 7.99/4-pk (though I think this was a bodega just not knowing what was up) to around 17.99 or higher (I think this was only ever for 3Beans, and this was the most expensive price I saw at a few different stores)

8 bucks, 15 bucks, 4 packs, 6 packs, whatever. I really enjoy most of the beers I've had and will continue enjoying them regardless of how they are packaged (and as long as the price doesn't get TOO exorbitant)

easily... EASILY 3Beans... phenomenal, and still holding up well to this day! Definitely hope you bring it back. After that, Global Warmer was a great brew as well

To be fair, these slim cans are sold in a box and are of the same height as the others in the line up. It would be very easy for someone who is not particularly in-the-know to buy it assuming they're 16oz cans. It's not like, "Hey I'm Acme Brewer Dood, here is my reasonably priced six-pack in the cooler.. and over there on the wall is my overpriced 750ml big bottle you can splurge on for that 'special' occasion." Sure, its the responsibility of the consumer to read the package, absolutely. It still seems a bit deceptive, in my humble opinion. Almost had me fooled once.

    --

You wanna talk price per ounce? How many times have we seen a brewery change their 6-pack to a 4-pack and keep the price the same? So now you wanna take that same overpriced 4-pack and extrapolate back into a 6-pack using the 4-packs pricing structure? Hogwash. Pick two like things for a comparison, thanks.

Despite my love for Hi-Res, Sweet Action is my favorite. Hard to explain why, but it is.

I would like point out how Sixpoint( Shane, is it you?) is interacting with the people who consume their product. I mean who else is doing this? Other than SN Bill, who is great too. It definitely raises my respect for them and makes me willing to try their other styles. Just wanted to say Thank You for talking with the people so honestly.

Seriously dude, learn to read the package and shut up. Take your hate elsewhere. Sixpoint hasn't changed formats and is here ASKING our opinions. You really think their mission statement reads, "trick people?" Get a clue.

Learn to read what I wrote. I did read the package. Thats why I wasnt fooled. I dont hate Sixpoint. Resin is good but its a one and done for me since I believe it to be overpriced. Oh yeah, they're asking our opinions, i gave mine.. I even said "in my humble opinion" for those of us who have trouble with shorthand and reading comprehension.

You can spin it however you want but your tone is accusatory. Resin is a DIPA and to me it makes total sense that it's 12oz vs the other offerings. If they raised it to 16oz the price point of resin would go up. It's clearly a business decision to keep the price point the same, not trick people. I stand by what I said, clearly you have a side issue so take it elsewhere.

Sorry but I just don't believe packaging to be something most companies ignore. Everything about it is intentional. The shape, the color, the design, placement on shelves, etc etc. Personally, I'm pretty indifferent on what package the beer goes into so long as I know what I'm buying and the price is right. Indeed, I AM sick of unlike comparisons being made. Here is a valid one. ...Resin vs DirtWolf. Sorry, DiftWolf gets my vote. That's my opinion. Sure these DIPAs go into different directions taste wise. DirtWolf is also three bucks cheaper. Those are facts.

I agree, Resin (as a DIPA) works fine in 12 oz format. Never said I had a problem with that.

I've been of fan of Sixpoint's IPAs for a while now. Begali is a staple and the Res and Hi-Res are excellent brews. But my favorite winter offering by far this year was Global Warmer. And I've recently added Righteous Ale to my regular line-up. I love the balance of that beer and could drink it everyday.

This thread's been here for awhile and I've ignored it. I'll chime in with an unpopular opinion.

The two Sixpoint beers I've had have been good, but unbalanced in that the alcohol in the beers come through in an unpleasant way. Resin and 3Beans have both done that to me.

If you go back to the original thread/forum on the Resin (dating all the way back to January 3rd, 2012) the entire original intention was to do exactly as you stated. There was no other brewery putting its beers in this format (4pack of 12oz sleeks) and with this unique formulation on the market at the time. We felt with the higher ABV it would be a better value to our customers to get them the beers they wanted (or the beers we knew they would want) at a price that was right. More than 2+ years later I'd say we are vindicated by that decision and the Resin improves with every batch we make (we are constantly tweaking and improving things at Sixpoint). Its folks like you that inspire us to keep striving and pushing forward, and enable us to always be on the cusp with our formulations.

just curious if this is the same PhillyBeerGuy that is on twitter and untappd? If so, we have been going back and forth for some time...glad to see you on here as well!

was shocked we still had that keg in our walk-in-cooler....its seen a lot over the past 6 years, including two hurricanes....but it made it through!

Might be beneficial to try some of our beers that are less than 10% ABV ;-)
