IMO, Tree House Stouts blow away any other stout/porter in NE. But looking beyond those because they’re a pain to get, some of my favorite stouts and porters are:

HF Everett porter (but also a pain in the ass to get)
    Ipswich Oatmeal Stout
Smutty Nose Baltic Porter & Robust Porter
    Jack’s Abby Framinghammer
    Wormtown Tennessee Tats
Many from Clown Shoes (I’m partial to Undead Party Crasher)
    Otter Creek Couch Surfer
Mayflower Oatmeal Stout and their porter
Castle Island Hearthside porter (wish this would be a year-round beer)

I’d also give a nod to Berkshire’s Coffeehouse porter, Imperial stout, and Drayman’s porter

    RIP: Pretty Things Babayaga

As much as I want to love them, I don’t share the community’s admiration for Pot & Kettle, Imperial Stout Trooper, or You Enjoy My Stout. But I’m in the minority on those.

I'll add a couple from Medusa (Pepere and Stout Lad were both really nice) and Mystic (The Hum is a solid porter), as well as Nightmare After Christmas from Flying Dreams. Just an excellent RIS.

Pot & Kettle, PM Dawn and Double Shot (the best in NE by some margin).

Is Mott the Lesser too hard to obtain to be mentioned? Maybe it's just the nostalgia in me, but Kate the Great was like the first new england beer that had a CRAZE around it that wasn't in Vermont. And Mott is the spiritual successor.

Aside from that, PM Dawn is just awesome. Nice and dry which to me makes for a great stout. I don't care for the super chocaletely/sweet viscous stuff.

Thimble Island's M.A.D. is definitely a solid RIS. I find it a little to lactose forward younger but with some time it really settles out and drinks superbly.

Foundation Forge, and Sexy Chaos are high on list for ME. In VT, any barrel-aged HF iteration of the styles is always awesome. And Luscious from Alchemist...

    HF BG&E
    HF BoT
Double Shot, Triple Shot, Good Morning
Have enjoyed all Trillium Stouts as well and agree on Mayflower Porter being a great shelfie. Would add Berkshire Coffehaus to the mix.

I'll also throw in a vote for Foundation Forge. Pilot 9 by Maine Beer Company, Dark Matter by Barreled Souls (also technically a porter), McGoverns Oatmeal Stout from Belfast Bay Brewing. Obsius from Gneiss is worth a try if anything because it's different. I will say that overall compared to IPA's in Maine the stouts are not as well put together.

As other have mentioned here, I was very impressed with Forge from Foundation. I wish I had bought more than one 4-pack on my last visit to Portland, but I'll definitely be looking out for more.
