Ok, when I asked people "what is your favorite local Ale?" they were like what? Why ALES only?

Fine, let's talk about your favorite local summer beers here and anything related to your favorite ale goes to that thread too if you want. Believe it or not, when you think global and drink local, it makes you feel...great.

I like to buy up the array of cream ales that come out in the summer.

Also, Noble Pils, Summit Bohemian Pilsner, and Mad House Honey Pilsner.

Don't care what people think but I love Shipyard Summer and Gritty Vacationland. I don't want a lot in a summer beer when I'm on the beach. Heady will work too

Is this summer seasonal beer, or beer i like to drink in the summer? If it's summer beer, it's Gansett Summer, absolutely no question.

I'm looking forward to putting back some Mayflower Rye, Jacks Abby Leisure Time, and Gansett Summer while on the beach.

Too many to choose a favorite. Plus, all the new canned beers coming this season are what I'm eying.

But if I had to choose a favorite local summer beer based on past summers...Peak Summer Session.

I think there are two distinct types

1: Summer Session beers - These are the ones you can kick back and have a few of on the beach, or BBQng, by the pool ETC. Normally below 5% and light in body with some refreshing citrus flavors and a mild hop/low malt flavor. Think crisp, but tasty with some summer sun bite.

2: Beers that work well with summer! These you can think of your nice IPA's, select DIPA's and perhaps saisons, wheats, sours and beers that pair well with summer foods but are something you might crack on a warm day and enjoy in the sun or with dinner. Not typically something you pop in the cooler at the beach and solo cup or coozie.

    thoughts?

Baxter Brewing's Celsius was my favorite last year. Looks like it's going to be back this year, renamed "Summer Swelter Ale." I'm hoping it's also easier to get in MA than it was last year.

I have liked that beer in the past - very nice hop character for a summer beer -I used to drink their pretty hoppy IPA alot too. But I stopped drinking Peak beers about a year ago after they started getting too buttery for me. Hopefully that has changed?

You mean Simcoe Spring? Yeah I love that one, too. I seriously love both that and summer session.

Funny note about Peak... whenever I have a bottle of theirs in hand, I feel like I'm in an L.L. Bean photo shoot. Their brand aesthetic looks and feels similar (also helps that both are from Maine). I see co-branded events in the future.

Narragansett summer - I would buy/drink this year round

Widmer Citra Blonde - I usually buy it as part of their summer mixed pack which also includes hefe, drifter (alchemy this year?), and whatever the current ipa is - all are great beers to drink in the summer.

SN Summerfest - can't beat this drinkable lager for flavor, drinkability, and price
