We did this a couple years ago, and, what with baseball and NASCAR being done for the year, I am bored. Here's how it works: list, in no particular order, in this thread your FAVORITE 4 Washington breweries. Maybe your favorites are also the "best", or maybe it's just a funky little brewery in your neighborhood that you enjoy. Wutevs. 4 breweries, not 5, you're gonna have to make a Sophies Choice here. At the end of next weekend, I'll total up the nominations, and start a voting thread.

Extraordinarily difficult. I have to include an honorable mentions list, if only because I could probably swap these breweries in depending on my mood: Stoup, Bale Breaker, Georgetown, and Holy Mountain.

This is a lot easier than the Oregon "best of "

    Honorable mention: Structures and Wander.

There are a lot of breweries I used to love but they doubled down on bullshit trends way too hard.

I've never even heard of Mirage. Was gonna say the same for Fast Fashion, but I've reviewed 1 of their (very average )murkbombs.

Grains of Wrath should really be in there, but they're in Portland now too and I didn't include them in the Best Oregon Breweries thread either. Chuckanut and Great Notion will be/are in both states too. I'd put them in their OG states.

For the purposes of this tournament, vote for WA BASED breweries. For examples: Chuckanut, while distributing to OR, and soon opening a taproom there, does all their brewing in Burlington now, so are a WA brewery. Grape Lotion, while having/soon to have breweries in multiple states, would still be considered an OR brewery, and not eligible for this rodeo.

Realllly wanted to include Machine House, but I'll stick to the four brewery limit.

Few years ago I would not have thought twice about putting Cloudburst or Reubens or Georgetown in there for hops, but honestly have not been impressed lately. Mirage has been the best in the region by far for me, and I had a few really good Fast Fashion IPAs so just threw them in there lol

I don't want to derail this thread, but I've never understood the Georgetown love. Not to say they're bad by any means, but they wouldn't be anywhere close to my top 4 in pretty much any state, let alone WA. Maybe because I didn't grow up with it?

I've only had maybe a half dozen of their beers (you can probably guess which ones), and never had one I thought was a particularly above-average version of its style. And this isn't a criticism of them not hype-chasing either--as you can probably tell by my top 4, I'm not really into the the hazy or pastry thing.

Anyone got any tips? Is there something I'm missing?

They make a series of excellent IPAs/ Pales that are readily available and reasonably priced. They make and distribute one of the few widely available packaged Porters in the state.
They have an interesting and varied brewery only taplist.
They have very well done wilds and sours available at the brewery in bottles.
Manny's pale is damn near everywhere in WA, a hell of an accomplishment.
The brewery isn't even 20 yet, so not really any beer drinkers have grown up with it.

Here's a piece on the history of the brewery: https://www.seattlemet.com/news-and-city-life/2012/11/mannys-mannys-everywhere-december-2012
