So Tonight I had a Solo Wit-Bier Tasting. In my line up were St. Bernards, Bluemoon, Allagash White, Hoegaarden, Coronado Orange Wheat, Eaglerock Manifesto, Avery White Rascal, Shocktop and Hanger 24 Orange Wheat. For me Allagash was the winner while Shocktop was in the rear. Coronado's was a bit tangy for my taste, while Hanger's was on the sweeter side. White Rascal was bit flat for the style. Just wondering what your take on this is.

BTW never do this solo. By the end of this im a bit sloppy.

I think you missed out since you didn't include Anchorage Whiteout Wit...

    Please lose the hyphen.

My take on your tasting? Sounds solid. I definitely would have predicted Allagash White would emerge the victor. It's a tough wit to beat.

I was thinking St. Bernard's to tell you the truth. Allagash was much more well balanced with the fruitiness while St. Bernard's was much easier to drink.

I'm not a huge fan of Witbier, but Bell's Oberon used to be a staple at Quotations in Media, PA before Pinocchio's opened up the beer garden and I was certainly a fan.

I need to try more of these. My main experiences are with Sam Adams whits and they are all pretty average to mediocre. Blackberry Whit, White Christmas, White Lantern, they arent bad but nothing to get excited over.

Hitachino is great. I could drink Allagash all day. That is a perfect beer in any situation.

I know Allagash is good, but I like Hoegaarden just as much. Highland Brewing here in NC made one (Razor Wit), and I thought it was pretty damn tasty.

Allagash and Hitachino are the best I've had so far.

German witbiers and Lil Sumpin Sumpin are also great.

Really enjoy Boulevard's Zon Witbier...low gravity, crisp, citrusy and flavorful. I was really disappointed in Allagash White (maybe an 'off' 4-pk?) as I found it had a weird, pithy bitterness. Celis White was good, and I'd like to try St. Bernardus, as they don't make a bad beer it seems. Honestly, if it's all that's there, I've been known to enjoy a Blue Moon now and again. Ommegang's is also pretty darn good, and for 'non-traditional' I have to give it up for the heavily brett'd Calabaza Blanca from Jolly Pumpkin.

All three of my favorites of this style are 'non-tradiotnal', two have been mentioned Anchorage White Out and Jolly Pumpkin's Calabaza Blanca, the other being Logsdon Farmouse Kili Wit.

Allagash White is pretty dang solid.
