I would be one of those who happen to like Greg's reviews. Yes it gets long-winded at times, and most of the times he repeats himself regarding food pairing, bottling dates etc. But what I get out of it is that I can watch each review independently and get all the information I need for that beer.

Regarding the comment about the dank onion smell, I would be one of those who never get it in any of the IPAs. Something to do with olfactory senses, each of us is wired differently...that doesn't make one better or worse than the other.

Thirdly, I don't know enough to confirm or deny whether Greg *begs* his subscribers for beer. The dude seems to be stocked to the hilt with all kinds of beers. At one point, he walked through 4 fridges worth of beers in response to someone's request to show his cellar.

What I like best about his reviews is that he isn't swayed by a beer or brewer's reputation. He isn't afraid to call out a brewer if he finds a miss, even if he is reviewing a free, complimentary beer from the brewer. I find that to be refreshingly honest.

I won't lie about my preferences, but I can give you examples of West Coast IPAs I did enjoy:

I love Joe and Nathan, with Darwin mixed in as he is the best for short periods of time. I do want to live in Joe's arcade though. I watched Erik as he was local to me, but really only enjoyed it when he had that John guy on. He had the most dry humor and references, made me laugh consistently. Otherwise I found Erik pretty boring.

Boring for daysss? Joking aside, I enjoy watching everyone listed so far, always fun to get different opinions on beer. The one thing I find consistently annoying is the overuse of the same descriptors and phrases. That applies to pretty much everyone.

People need to stop bashing other channels they don't like. Everyone is entitled to watch what they like. I personally have stuck with channels that I've been watching for years along with a couple others. BGN, Greg's, Master of Hoppets, Crafty Beer Reviews, Erie Better Beer, Clements.

There seem to be new ones popping up all the time. Great to have many choices.

    Cheers!

All of the love is appreciated. Each show has their own intricacies that make each unique and fun to watch. I personally try to watch as many of them as I can, I learn a lot about not only beer, but reviewing beer as well. Cheers and thanks for tuning in!

Greg, reminds me of my uncle, drinks bud light until you show up with the good stuff, then he drinks it all. Too cheap to buy it himself, but loves to drink all yours! Gotta love family!

That sure sounds like Greg. I wonder if all youtubers get all their beers free now. Like i love joe but I have always wondered how someone from san diego has all those connects. What in san diego trades consistently for all the specials from treehouse, monkish, toppling goliath etc. master of hoppets(peter) on the other hand seems like he trades for is stuff. Darwin Just lives in a area where i'm pretty sure he hsa trades. The one that forsure puts no effort into trading and just wants and wants is Greg though.

William Geist. The guy does beer reviews for his buddies, but he doesn't repeat himself 20 times (usually). He can be funny as hell, and...he gives the beer he is reviewing a lot of thought. Plus, he seems like a nice guy. You be the judge.

I can definitely understand the annoyance/frustration of everyone saying the same type of thing and using the same flavor descriptors (I even get annoyed at myself during reviews sometimes), but there are only so many tasting notes out there. There are also only so many descriptors and phrases that eventually there is some repetition. Especially if you're watching channels that mostly review the same types of beers all the time.

I don't know, just how I feel man. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the shout out man and the continued support! I know you've been watching for years. I'll say this much, Peter (TMOH) is still my favorite beer reviewer! He is a very nice person, replies to everyone who comments, is extremely grateful for any beer he gets, doesn't just review whales and "flavor of the month" type beers, has a great palate and I love when he freaks out over a beer!

Thanks to this thread I've been watching Jow's Arcade lately. I like how it feels like he's just talking about beer. Nothing over the top or rehearsed. It also probably doesn't hurt that I grew up in arcades in the 80's!

I definitely watch a lot of channels with the same types because it's what I (and I'm sure most people here) enjoy drinking. I probably noticed more than I should have since I just recently discovered all the awesome reviews out there and binged on them.

Darwin hands down. Joe is either hit or miss for me. Same with Ryerson. But I always look forward to hearing what Darwin has to say.

Pretty sure he's a Modern Times league member, so he has access to all of the Monster's park barrel aged stuff. As well as Alpine bottles from Alpine.

I don't know how many guys are getting free beer all the time. I think there is more to what you may be seeing?

I'm very lucky that I've befriended people from all over the US, as well as having family in the midwest/east coast. When you become friends with people, they are willing to trade for beers they can't get, and they don't always have to be whalez. I can't tell you how many people have been stoked to try Modern Times. Their shelf beers, seasonal releases, special cans, BA stuff, and sours are very much sought after in my experience.
