Oh don't get me wrong man, I definitely agree that a lot of us BeerTubers use the same descriptors over and over haha. I was just saying that it's hard to come up with new ways to describe certain flavors differently and so we all repeat ourselves. Sometimes I try and not review too many of the same types of beers back to back so I have more variety and don't feel like a robot lol. Cheers!

Something I recently noticed about Greg, he hasn't been describing the beers with any sort of detail lately. Case in point, Maple Jesus, an 18 plus minute video review had zero tasting notes. Closest he gets is "this is a well made beer guys". Well, thanks for that golden nugget.

I stopped watching him for this very reason. Yes, his videos have always been long, and his rants have always been repetitive and annoying, but with a little fast-forwarding I could get around those faults. But, I can't get past a beer reviewer that does not really review the beer. It started with him just naming flavors without any context, now you are lucky if you get that.

No mention of when he chews the beer with his lips smacking while sporting those perfectly groomed eyebrows. No one should have eyebrows that beautiful, not Boy George, not RuPaul, not Bruce, err, Caitlyn Jenner.

Really? What's the point of "reviewing" the beer then?

Voodoo is located here in Pennsylvania. While we aren't allowed to be called east coast or Midwest, we sure aren't west coast.

I used to watch beer geek nation. He uses the same phrases all the time. Does he actually taste papaya in the ipas shipped to him for free or does he just know the characteristic of the style?? Also, he does obscure stuff that only certain people have access to. He may know some stuff in beer but his reviews are a joke.

I'm also typing this because I'm a little drunk and watching Home Alone 2. People drink what you want and like. Don't go out if your way to get some beer some dueche "reviewed" on a video and said is the greatest beer ever even though only 46 people ever had it. Who cares. You're your own person and don't let "YouTube" personalities sway your decision to buy something. Use your judgment and get wht you like.

West Coast style is what I meant.

Sorry about the smacking. I'm going to try my best to avoid that with the mic picking it up and all.
As for the eyebrows, haha, I don't know what to say.... :astonished:

I'm with you on this. Decide for yourself..
For me, early on, I was lost in what to try in beer and I wish I had someone to listen to. Someone's palate that I agree with to help guide my purchases. That's why I do reviews. I'm not saying that anyone should necessarily take me as an authority, but some people seem to have found my reviews to be helpful, and therefore, I'm very happy to share my opinion.

    @dar482

hey're beautiful. I wept, paused the video, and held hands with my wife (so she could take notes) the first time I saw them.

I’ll echo Darwin on this one … when I got into “good” beer around the turn of the century I was lucky enough to have a friend who was a literal encyclopedia about beer, and I was super appreciative to have his brain to pick along my journey. I didn’t take his tastes as gospel …. I mean, some people just like cucumber pickled … but it was bad ass to have that outlet and knowledge base.

And that’s kind of how I see beertube. I don’t grade (anymore), I just talk about what, how and how much I like a … or hate … a beer and leave it out there in the ether. If someone watches a bulk of my reviews and ends up like and disliking much of the same beers as me, then chances are they will like or dislike the beers they’ve never had that I have reviewed. A little “Pandora radio like” guidance in a world that can get pretty effing pricey.

At least that’s how I see it.

I watch a lot of reviewers but if I don't like the videos then I stop watching, beer geek, massive beer reviews, Darwin and Joe's Arcade are my favorites..Nathan ryerson is pretty dope too and master of hoppets. But all reviews I know of do it because they love craft beer, so I'll never shit on any of them

There is nothing wrong with buying a beer because 'some dueche "reviewed" on a video and said is the greatest beer ever', people are entitled to spend their money how they wish, there is no right or wrong here. Like you said, 'Who cares'? Don't let some drunk message board poster tell you what to do with your money.

Back in the day (5 years ago?) I got into review channels with BGN, Ryan Reschan, and TMOH (#teamjakob) while eating lunch at work. There is a moment when BGN reviewed Marshall Zhukov and his reaction was probably the most genuine I've seen out of all of these channels and I enjoy that he tightened up his videos and he has great audio/video.

These days however the only one I watch consistently is Jow. Massive and Darwin I'll check in for the local stuff (they are local to me) and I enjoy watching the blind reviews on Erie Better Beer Bureau. Erik Wood also seems like he knows his stuff and I'll check into Behind the Bar for some whales. Overall though it's Jow all the way. I can't explain why I tune in to him so much other than maybe I can never pull off cool hats? Jealous of the San Diego weather? Wish I had an arcade in my garage? Cheers guys.

Interested to see what Chris' critics think. (I too have lost interest in his reviews as of late, but I appreciate his honesty in this vid.)

Chris seemed pretty harsh on the smaller guys (including me and others) while he also stated feeling "alienated" and yet he never reaches out to any of us. Very odd to me and some of his other statements struck a chord with me. I'll have a reaction video up tomorrow.
