I think Parabola is the best of these beers, but a tad different than the rest. As far as a straight RIS My vote goes to Founders IS over Expedition and Raspy by a nose.

I voted for Brooklyn BCS, still the standard IMO.

Taking out Parabola, I went with Old Raspy - a staple in my fridge. Followed closely by Ten Fidy. But damn there are some good choices here!

Stone IRS. Credited as the reason I am hooked on stouts.

I chose Bell's, love that beer, but there are some top notch choices in there. Parabola kills them all but thats not a classic RIS.

From what I've read British RIS like Courage and Good King Henry are in a league all their own. But Wells' version on par with past renditions of Courage? My confidence in Wells is shaken by the poor quality of their beers available in Canada.

In my OP I meant American RIS. Being in Canada I have access to American beers very seldomly, only every few months when I drive from Toronto to Buffalo. I like hearing what people have to say about the American style.

That's a tough one. For me, Expedition and Old Raspy are 1 and 1a. I went with Expedition ONLY because I think it ages a bit better, but fresh they are a dead heat. I could have also went with my 1b as "other" because Siberian Knights is not on the list yet I absolutely adored that beer when it was actually distro'd here.

Stone and Yeti are neck & neck for me. Stone's is smoother, Yeti is hoppier.

Haven't had a couple of these but feel pretty confident going with founder's. I absolutely adore that beer

(and yes if i could marry it, i would)

Price, availability and quality considered, the answer has to be Old Rasputin

I voted old rasputin. I probably like that and Ten Fidy equally, but old raspy was the first stout that got me into liking big stouts so i tend to lean towards it for that reason alone.

Founders RIS and NEBCO Imperial Stout Trooper are close "seconds"
