I just had my first Panhead brew (Hardtail Henry Oaked Stout) and man there are some awesome beers coming out of New Zealand lately, it's like NZ brewers have embraced the American spirit of wild abandon more than any other country I know of (I'm an Aussie btw).

    Any favourites from those Stateside?

PS: I'm still waiting on an American brewer to create a Triple IPA... come on America!

havent had an Authentic New Zealand brew. Yet, I've had a Triple IPA that had New Zealand Hops in it .

I think MOA is New Zealand, right? I love everything I've ever tasted from them.

Moa Methode is their best if you can get it corked and caged - very Saison-like (they claim it's a Pilsner but we all know that they're lying).

I was thoroughly impressed with the beer scene when I visited last fall. Had some great beers by Garage Project and Harrington's Breweries.

@doktorhops Triple hopped or tripel meets IPA? I've seen quite a few of both :astonished:

I'd say Knee Deep Hoparillo and Pliny the Younger both qualify, along with many others. As for the NZ beers, there's a ton I'd like to try but it's near impossible to get it fresh enough here on the east coast.

But yea- MOA takes my vote. St. Josephs, Breakfast, Original. All so good.

Moa St. Joseph is fantastic. I had the large corked bottle and it was awesome from the sound "pop" of the cork to the last drop!

America has a ton of "triple IPAs."

Bumaye from 8Wired is great. I love wine barrel imperial stouts, and this one was huge on everything that I love about the very specific sub-substyle.

I was more thinking "Double IPA with one more - in other words a TIPA"... so I guess it would just be a bigger ABV DIPA, but when does a DIPA become a TIPA? That is the question.

The answer is never. It is either an IPA or it is an imperial/double IPA if it goes beyond the recognized limits of an IPA. There are tons of breweries that put TIPA on their label and/or marketing, but it doesn't mean anything. Otherwise, every style would have regular, double, triple, and even quadruple versions as a recognized style. Imperial pilsner? We make an triple imperial pilsner! Imperial saison? We make a triple imperial saison!

I didn't think MOA were that great but I've had some interesting brews from NZ.

I've only had a few but the only one I recall was their Five Hop Winter Ale. It was very one-dimensional.

Devil Dancer from Founders is a "Triple" IPA.

To the topic at hand, I've not been able to get much (read as: any) from NZ, much to my Untappd badge-whoring chagrin.
