Unibroue got me into beer, but now I can't drink their stuff. I find their yeast a little too rough.

I've had West12, Roch10, Pannepot, StB12 .... think I liked the Pannepot the best actually, would love to drink West12 again but price/effort not really worth it to me since Roch/StB are always on shelf

I really need to try Chimay, something I'll take care of this fall/winter for sure

The best I've had was a 3 year old Westy 12. All the others I've had fresh, so 2nd I'd go with Rochefort. That being said, I have ABT 12, Westmalle Dubbel, Trois Pistole, Réserve Spéciale 17, Maudite, Chimay Blue, Gouden Carolus Blauw and Rochefort 12 aging, so looking forward to trying those with a bit of age.

I've also found Unibroue's La Résolution quite interesting.

All good points, thanks. I have a collection of quads that are all between 6-9 months old. I need to see if I can find a few more in that age range to round out a tasting. Or I may just let those continue to sit in my cellar and start rounding up fresh ones to do a fresh tasting...

I'm partial to Malheur 12. One of the few beers that I always want to buy when I see it.

Its close for me between Rochefort 10 and Pannepot - ultimately, Rochefort 10 edges out. A little more depth of flavor for me. I love the leathery notes.

    I've never had any Westy.

I have had a 15 year old one not too long ago, held up surprisingly well but I wouldn’t keep it longer than that.

Westvleteren 12 or Rochfort 10 aged are both out of this world.

But for how much easier Rochfort 10 is to acquire you really can't beat it

Def want to get my hands on the Oak aged at bernardus 12

It occurred to me that, if the question had been, what's your favorite Belgian quad, I would've chosen St. Bernardus over Pannepot. And I say that even though Pannepot is classified as a quad, and even though Pannepot was my choice in the poll.

As a true and highest caliber representation of the quad style, I would vote for St. Bernardus.

But since we're throwing all the dark Belgians into the mix, and I got a bottle of each in front of me - and I can only have one bottle - I'm gonna reach for the Pannepot :stuck_out_tongue:

I happen to like Allagash's Odyssey as well - Allagash takes a nice approach to Belgian stylings, plus it's barrel-aged... @Bitterbill knows what I'm talkin' about

I never quite warmed to the Rochefort enough to take it over any of the aforementioned :astonished:
