Chimay Triple is the greatest Belgian triple for me (the "Cinq Cents" 75 Cl bottle is amazing) , when served at the right temperature ( 10 °c), but many others unlisted are still great : Straffe Hendrick Tripel, Carolus (Het Anker) Tripel and Guldenberg by De Ranke !!

While I have tried and enjoyed all of the ones listed in the survey (save for the Dupont), I think I'll go with Boulevard's Long Strange Tripel, if for no other reasons than it's easy to obtain, tastes great, and has a much shorter distance to travel to get to me than the others.

I voted for Westmalle in the interest of consistency because I have it as my top-rated tripel -- and overall beer -- in the ratings. But I'm pretty much just as fond of Fin du Monde, St. B, and Karmeliet, which fall in, respectively, slots 2-4 of my own tripel ratings. Shout out to Long Strange Tripel, my no. 5 and a stunning oversight in this poll.

Karmeliet or Fin du Monde or Ommegang, but mostly Karmeliet.

I meant to mention: favorite tripel in a can, Aviator. Actually, it's the only tripel in can, at least that I know of. Not the best American tripel, but it's decent, and I give it mad points for the can.

Watou Tripel, is that almost the same as St Bernardus? what the difference?

I was under the impression Unibroue was one of the more widely distributed breweries out there. Tried checking Seekabrew but they aren't listed.

Haha, I was assuming they weren't widely distributed because I never saw them on seekabrew

St. Bernardus makes two tripels, the Watou Tripel is lower abv, sweeter and in my opinion not as good as "St. Bernardus Tripel".

So many great beers in this style. Gotta go with Tripel Karmeliet. Such a great beer. Love most of the others on the list too, though.

I love the Westmalle and Karmeliet the best, but I will always give Westmalle the nod :sunglasses:

    Runner-up: Chimay

I haven't had a La Fin du Monde in a while, but it always had a flavor element to it that took it down a notch from the true Belgians for me.

Curieux, among a couple of others (e.g., Tropical Tripel, Rockmill's Cask Aged Tripel), gets excluded because of its tweaked nature. But I love them.

Of the American-made tripels, Adelbert's Tripel B tastes very close to the classic Belgian-made tripels...

Tripel is the style that really knocked down the door for me when it comes to craft beer.

That said, I literally do not understand any vote that is not for Westmalle. :stuck_out_tongue:

On ratebeer the Dupont is listed as a Tripel. While I don't have a strong opinion on how it should be classified, it has the same approx hop profile and abv, and it is very dry. The Dupont came to the LCBO last winter, and we don't have access to Westmalle Tripel (we have the dubbel right now and Karmeliet for great prices though).

The Dupont hit the spot and was a great substitute. I might (maybe) even like it more than Westmalle. From what I remember the Dupont and Westmalle are more similar than Karmeliet and Westmalle.

For me, it's Westmalle>Chimay>>>>>>>>>all the rest.

I don't find Karmeleit in the same zip code.
