Greetings from NJ! I have a non-beer drinking friend going to fayetteville fornthe holidays and has generously offered to bring back some great beers from NC. As far as stores go i know ABC and Bob & Sherees, from internet searches. Any other places that are better? Also not sure what NODA and WW have in distrobution right now. Lwt me know if there are are any other beers i should be lookimg for. Thanks in advance for your help.
Don't know the Fayetteville area, but just wanted to mention that ABC stores in NC are liquor only, so cross that one off the list.
ABC won't have any beer, but should have some NC made spirits. Grapes and Hops is another bottle shop in Fayetteville, but I'm not sure about their selection as I haven't been in quite some time. I'm near Southern Pines which is about 25 miles west of Fayetteville, perhaps a bit far for a beer run, but here we have Southern Pines Growler Co., a fill station and bottle shop. I know they have quite a few bottles from wicked weed including pernicious ipa, freak of nature DIPA and sours like black angel, oblivion...NODA will be hard to come by as they don't do much distro to this area (yet). but it's worth asking just in case. As for other local stuff, Dirtbag Ales and Southern Pines Brewing both make some good stuff and are readily available in bottles/cans in Fayetteville. Other good brews that should be available would be Unknown brewing's over the edge IPA and birdsong jalapeno pale ale. Those are both Charlotte breweries. Not sure there a many bottles left floating around, but Highland Cold Mountain is something to look for.
Grapes and Hops has good selection. Anything from the Unknown is great and so is Foothills. I don't remember ever seeing anything from NoDa this far east. Skip huske hardware and the mash house. underwhelming to say the least. Harris Teeter supermarket has a good selection of craft breweries.
Depending on where you're staying in the Fay area I would hit the Grapes and Hops in Spout Springs. It's just a bit north of town about 20min but the selection there is pretty good. Bobs has a good selection but very pricey. Honestly, the selection in town isn't the best. If you want great selections you're going to have to drive an hour out and hit Raleigh or even Southern Pines (45min).
Not bottle shops, but world of beer just opened in fayetteville, there been having some decent beers on. Had a few Wicked weed beers on tap and bottles. Macs speedshop has noda hop drop
