$40 for a 750 of standard gueuze is not price gouging.

Price gouging is a short-term massive increase in price, generally in reaction to a sudden demand or supply shock. (A demand shock, for instance, would be if a hurricane was coming and everyone wanted more bottled water than usual. A supply shock, on the other hand, would be if said hurricane flooded an industrial bakery, and thus massively decreased supply.)

In the past several years, Cantillon has not been a "shelf beer" anywhere in the US. Even when I've seen prices as high as $100 for a 750 of LPK in NYC, if I had wanted the bottle at that price, it was not available after it was published - people bought the supply up immediately.

There's nothing short-term about this, nor is there a demand or supply shock. Supply is in fact less limited than it has been; demand is just absurd for Cantillon under any condition. When demand far outpaces supply, price has to rise or the market is inefficient. As far as Cantillon prices go, we're nowhere near equilibrium.

I almost took the troll bait and wrote a full reply. Stupid BA. I'm glad your economic definitions are so accurate.

Found a bottle of 2014 Fou Foune in Tampa last year (was stuck/hidden behind a few other bottles of shelf beer behind the counter).I paid $40 bucks for it and would have paid whatever they wanted for it... First and last time I have ever seen Cantillon on the shelf.

Did you try Ballast Point's Calm Before the Storm? Comparison? I wasn't a fan of that beer and thought I would be. I don't want to buy C.R.E.A.M if it's similar.

I haven't had that one. We don't get BP up here yet. I will say I didn't think I would like this, since I'm not generally a fan of cream ales. The coffee works well against the sweetness, though. Sort of reminds me of a light version of Stone Master of Disguise.

When was the last time you were there? I don't make it down to Hot Springs much, but central AR is crawling with Sixpoint.

Back in October I think, usually go about twice a year, HS is a desert, there are a couple stores with good selection but I have to drive into town (parents place is in the villages). I need to suck it up next time and just go to little rock for a short trip
