Surly makes good beer but anyone else fed up with the way the release their seasonal beers? They just released Wet this week and they announced they only produced 1/3 of their normal amount because of demand on their year round beers. Which once again has lead to price gouging at liqour stores and no availability for a standard seasonal. I understand they have high demand but personal I think their owner could careless about their customers and I doubt much will change after their expansion is completed.

Lighten up Francis. Go to the taproom and have a pour of Misanthrope for $5. You'll feel better.

You mad bro? Maybe they have to brew more of the flagship beers to keep up with the demand?

So you're upset that they put out a quality product and have grown into a successful company?? I'd be more upset if i couldn't find Furious 52 weeks out of the year than i am for Wet selling out in minutes during 1 week of the year! They are a business and know what sells...how that equates to not caring about customers escapes me...

They made 1/2 of what they did last year, not a 1/3. Where is the price "gouging"? I haven't seen it, I bought a case of Wet this year no problem from 4 different liquor stores combined and paid between $16.99-18.99 for each 4 pack, same as every other year. Only had a single can for myself, the rest was shipped out.

Pretty sure they do care about customers, if not, they wouldn't be in business.

Im not upset they make a top 100 beer year round, not to mention a brewery who has special/seasonal beers at their taproom constantly. They are currently in an in between stage, the demand is growing hence a need for a new brewery. Come 2014 you won't see any "issue" as far as seasonal/special beers are concerned.

Not only have I been on a tour led by Omar, he spoke at my grad school. Both impressions: loves his customers, loves his beer.

And seriously, you are complaining about them building their business? Do you understand that if they grow bigger, the more cash they will have, and the more they can brew, including seasonals!

It's easy to forget that breweries go through growing pains. It was a perfect storm for less Wet this year; Huge demand for Furious, Fest & Darkness in tanks and hops for Wet coming 2+ weeks early. All that means Wet gets to be super limited this year. Not much Surly could do except listen to everyone complain about getting less Wet.

With their expected growth they also need to push their bread and butter beers. There are still a lot of potential customers out there that need to be introduced to the year round line up. Once the new brewery is up and running they need to know the demand will be there at a larger capacity. As a potential new customer who isn't a craft beer aficionado are you going to buy a $17 4 pack or a $10 4 pack you are starting to notice more often?

Don't like Surly then don't drink it. Buy some Indeed, Steel Toe, Fulton , Brau Bros., Third Street, Schell's, Summit... etc. A lot of good and great beers abound that all care about customers even Surly. Drink local, drink often.

Nope, Mr. Fancy Pants collage grad. If they don't offer an unlimited supply free of cost this means that they hate the consumer, yet the consumer is powerless, completely without power, to not purchase this product. Surprised they didn't teach you that in science class.

I have to agree here. I volunteered doing tours and events from 08-13 and he's just like the rest of us and loves great beer and is a genuine guy. I'm sure any brewery with a demand that Surly is trying to deal with with love to snap their fingers and be able produce 10 times as much beer, but it just can't be done.

Surly makes great beer. What is the deal with Over Rated? Is it here to stay? I thought only occasional?

Omar is one of the coolest guys out there. Always finds time to chat when he is running an event and is busy as can be. Go cry somewhere else.

OP, you sound like a whiney dumbass. Clearly you've never met Omar. Stop drinking Surly now and save more for the rest of us.

I clicked on this hoping to read more stupid comments about how Surly sucks because they don't make enough beer. 16 posts in and only one is a letdown.
