    I don't understand this post.

    1. You enjoy Surly beer.
    2. You are upset that you can't get beer you enjoy and it's priced higher by people with no affiliation to Surly
    3. You are mad a Surly

If anything you should be mad at all of us that are buying up their beer like it's going out of style.

Is this why everyone is complaining about "Millennials" these days?

Ill repeat what EVERYONE else said; If you've ever talked to Omar or Todd, you would like they are the shit. They love beer and are very appreciative of their customers.

Would it be cool if Wet had Founders Breakfast stout level production? yes. Am I going to cry about not being able to but a case of Wet? no.

The demand is there because they make great beer. Maybe they should suck more so their beer turns into shelf turds...

Funny the OP hasn't responded to any of this. Way to go baby boy.

I stopped by Dangerous Man and Indeed last night with the missus. While both beers I had were pretty good (the Belgian @ DM; Wet Hop @ Indeed), nothing compared to the WAY WORSE THAN LAST YEAR Surly Wet I had when I returned home.

Have you been to Darkness Day? You know, the event at Surly's brewery which people camp out all night then wake up to (or stay awake and are greeted by) Omar himself tapping a keg of a special brew to pour for free to anyone who wants it (while it lasts). If Omar is an example of an owner who does not care about his customers, I would really like to meet a business owner who does care about his or her customers!

Surly doesn't have the "get an instant erection whenever 'Surly' is mentioned and have the immediate need to masturbate myself silly" effect on me as it seems to have on so many people. Never understood the hype.

If your go to beer is Hamms, I totally get this.

So....the OP was crabby about price and availability of limited released beers. I think that's a reasonable gripe. I do think he's off base when he states that Omar doesn't care about his customers for many of the reasons stated above. Omar has also been active in the community with the many Surly Gives A Damn events throughout the year. Fed up with Surly? That's fine.

I don't think this thread turned out the way the OP thought it would !

Is it though? Do people complain about the price and availability of Ferrari's? If they did would anyone think it is anything but silly?

Just don't buy it if you don't like the price. Don't either buy it and bitch (what sense does that make) or not buy it and bitch about not being able to "afford" it. Not everyone can afford all luxury goods.

I agree to a point, but this is a message board, so it's fine with me to share an opinion on a beer's worth relative to its price, whether that is good or bad. There is a bit of "if you like it, then say so, but if you don't, keep your trap shut" homerism with Surly here.

That said, the conclusion OP made about Omar just doesn't make any sense.

I'm getting the same amount as I did last year and am very much enjoying this year's recipe. Is it different? yes. Is that really a bad thing? no

Well they sure did throw a large, expensive, and kick ass customer (industry) appreciation party last Sunday. The day after they threw a huge Oktoberfest party. Two obvious examples of behavior by a company that under-appreciates it's customers...

Nobody wants to hear about your white person problems buddy, get over it.

I had the pleasure of meeting several of their staff (stayed at same hotel at a beerfest) and I will say they absolutely care about their customers and the craft movement as a whole. Omar was down to Earth and cool. Sometimes, we experience 1st world problems. Relax and have a beer.

I didn't see nor hear about this leading to gouging at any retail outlet. At worst, Haskell's split their inventory into singles and sold them individually at a premium. And the practice of charging a premium for splitting multi-packs, is common for the sake of convenience for customers, that is almost always while the multipacks are still available. In fact, I have had stores who run out of six packs on beer, but have at least six singles, repack them to sell at the original six pack price. What Haskell's did (not sure how many locations did this), to only sell singles at the premium price may be a little underhanded, but I don't even think that crosses into "gouging."
