I recently sent out a package with Fedex and some bottles broke (Ive never had anything break before). It appears as though FedEx removed the broken bottles and repackaged the remaining bottles which were delivered.

Has anyone ever heard of this before?
Should I file a claim? Not sure if I should be happy that some of the beers got delivered or upset that several were missing.

Obviously priority 1 is making it right on the other end but beyond that Im not sure how to handle.

This has happened to me with Fedex before. I believe I saw on another post that it happened to someone at the Oakland processing center as well. That was the same place where mine were repackaged. Since you're technically not supposed to ship beer through them I would definitely chalk it up to good luck and be happy some beers were saved.

It's weird that it doesnt even say anything on my account or on the tracking, nothing looks unusual and it wasnt even at any processing centers for an extended period of time. According to them it was a normal delivery.

Had a similar thing happen to me last week, but the box was returned not delivered. Shipped a box via Fedex, made it all the way onto the truck for delivery, then it got marked damaged. They sent it back in the same box with the surviving bottles in a garbage bag.

Pretty I did they didn't mark it damaged or anything. I wonder if one bottle broke and someone at fedex decided to take an AB Lechedor and a couple others for themselves.

I've had this happen twice. Just be happy you got a cool guy/girl that sent ANYTHING on its way. They could have easily destroyed the whole thing and not given two shits.

Who knows if they kept some bottles, in my book they're cool either way!

It's weird that yours was still delivered. I remember when mine had gotten all the way to Oakland from Vermont and was marked damaged they said it was policy to return it to the sender. I asked for managers and such and moved up the chain and they all said it had to be sent back. You definitely lucked out if the bottles did in deed break!

Is this typically what happens? I was expecting a box to arrive today and while tracking the package this morning it says "Damaged - handling per shipper instructions".

Call right now. The "shipper instructions" portion is pure bullshit in my experience - usually that's FedEx-ese for "whatever, we're sending this back to the shipper to let them deal with it". If you call, especially if it's that close, they may hold it at a local hub for you to pick up (I've had this happen) or even re-package & deliver it (I've had this happen, too).

The downside, of course, is if you call & they start asking you too many questions about the beer shipped to you, but in the 3-4 cases of something gone wrong over the years, I haven't had this happen, yet.

Please let me know how this worked out for you. I shipped out 16 bottles last week, and I just received an email saying it was damaged. So when I called, they said 6 of the bottles broke and they'll deliver the remaining. I can't believe this happened. I wrapped every bottle twice over with bubble wrap, and padded the hell out of that box. Those assholes must have beat the dog shit out of my box to break one bottle, let alone 6. This really sucks. They said after the delivery I can file with claims. All of the bottles I can replace except one. I'm still pissed off.

Is UPS better? This was only my second trade and this happened.

What's the longest anyone has had a box show up after going missing? I had about $100 in trillium go missing last week....... investigation is pending.

Can't help but picture some long haul driver sitting back drinking double dry hops or cutting tiles!

Had the same thing happen to me. Box was jacked up. Remaining bottles were returned to me nicely wrapped in bubble wrap, and put in a plastic bag. It had like a Prohibited Material sticker on it, or something.
