To anyone who has filed a claim with FedEx before; when you filed the claim did they ask you for proof of purchase of the contents of the box? A few weeks ago I shipped a beer for a trade via FedEx that I can't replace on a Wednedsay. When we checked the tracking number on Friday, we saw that it said it had been turned around and returned to the shipper (me) on Thursday, though I was never informed this was happening, had no FedEx tag on my door, and had no box when I came home on Thursday. I spent 2 weeks while they tried to figure out what happen, and the best they could do was tell me the driver was let in by my Super, and left it at my door. They said since I hadn't asked for a signature, they left it, and when I complained it wasn't supposed to be returned to me and I had no idea, so couldn't ask for a signature, they just said "sorry". When I asked why it was even being sent back to me they told me they did not know, and the only note in the computer was that the "holding period had expired", or something along those lines, though the package had never been held at a location and had been in transit. Finally, they told me I should just file claim. After filling out the online claim form, I reached a screen that said to complete the claim, I had to mail them proof of purchase for what was inside, to verify how much they owed me. Obviously this is not an option for me, so I am wondering whether I am just screwed, or if anyone has gone through this? I have emailed them saying I no longer had the receipt and got a generic response back which did not help.
Thanks for the response, appreciate it. I filled out the same online claim form so here's to hoping they reimburse me.
