For those who have filed claims, were you able to get money back if you told them it was beer that was shipped along with the correct value? At the same time, if it were "olive oil etc." how did you come up with the value? This pertains to a box that has supposedly been destroyed and unable to return to sender.
I had one destroyed recently and they sent me a check for $100 (the actual value of the box) based on the info I gave them over the phone when it happened. I told the lady I spoke to about the collectible glass with liquid inside and apparently they processed my claim without any proof of value. I think I got extremely, extremely lucky on that one though. I have heard lots of other people's stories about simply being screwed on FedEx issues.
I think it depends on the amount you are trying to collect. I had someone get their $100 back no questions asked, but had another person need to provide receipts for value of contents for $300
The only package I have lost out of 50+ between UPS, USPS, and Fed Ex was with them. They said it was a total loss and I was not allowed to ship alcohol. I told her O was not asked and I was not informed, nor did I see anything posted (true). She suggested I file a claim. I claimed the $100 included plus packaging and they sent me a check for $117
