That's odd. The note on the front door of their web site says: Recent Federal regulation changes has put a stop to BEERSHIP. We can no longer ship beer to any customer. We advise that you get a hold of your state legislators that are prohibiting any shipping of beer!!. No mention of a FedEx attorney. And why would you contact state legislators about "recent federal regulation changes"? That's three different stories already!
Wow. I hadn't visited the site. The owner is kind of a trippy dude though. I used to visit their store front in Northern Idaho a few years back.
Hmm I dunno about all this, there are still various other sites one can order from. Granted they can't ship to all states, but most
You can ship alcohol via FedEx but there has to be very particular labeling, etc. It just costs a bunch more than standard FedEx shipping.
Yeah, they seem really confused of the laws and how each legislative/enforcement body works. Curious if you have the source/experience regarding this. I didn't think it costs more, just that the shipper has to be a licensed alcohol shipper and with proper declaration and labeling on the box. At most the only additional cost would be signature required; otherwise, these properly labeled packages don't take any more to ship.
Nevermind, you are right. I just saw it as an option on my fedex account and thought it was fairly easy. You do need to sign an agreement to ship it
This is not exactly what this thread is about, but... My local mom and pop shop asked me recently when dropping off a package if it had any of the usual, then this time also asked about beer. I played dumb, and they were all "ohhh yea, we get notifications from FedEx when the "olympics of beer" or whatever it is for home brewers is because people try to ship in their beer to the competition." Not sure what exactly she is talking about, but I am probably going to be more aware of when competitions are, and hold off on doing any trades for like 2 weeks before and after those events.
Not sure either what Olympics would be for homebrewers. HomeBrewCon just happened that is a big one for us every summer that AHA puts on, other then that the pro am part of GABF but wouldn't see that being an issue.
