Curious if anyone has used Walgreens to drop off FedEx packages. Apparently they just recently started accepting packages and I'm already running into problems with them.
Created a shipping label at home, took to Walgreens, got an email confirmation of the drop off, and the tracking number I was given has shown nothing for over a week now. FedEx has opened an investigation into my missing package but I'm not optimistic about it.
This is my second issue with FedEx in recent months- is it worth switching to UPS?

Recently shipped one from a drop off location and things went well but I would like to hear of other's experiences.

I just had a package held at Walgreens for me to pickup. I was the one who made the label and guy gave me the rundown bc I didn't have the same address on my ID as I did on the shipping address and my first name wasn't listed on the package like my ID. Last time I use Walgreens. And the only reason I used them was bc FedEx had my package on the truck Friday but failed to deliver to me in time.

OP, if it's convenient enough for you I'd recommend keeping to Fedex store drop offs. This eliminates one extra step (Walgreens -> Fedex) where crap can happen. Obvs ymmv.

I've always dropped off at a non-FedEx location, specifically a local mom & pop mail store or OfficeMax. I've never had any issues and haven't gotten a receipt after dropping off in a long time. A FedEx store is no difference since a truck would stop by at the end of the day to grab the boxes like they would from any drop-off location and bring to the main shipping hub.

The most common reason for lost package is label falling off. Make you secure the label by taping over it completely. The pouch sometimes falls off. Short of that, issues are usually specific to a particular location (due to poor training, workers, etc.), not FedEx or UPS itself.

Because the label falling off can be a problem, I have not only made sure to tape over it completely, but I have also (after reading on BA) decided to write the FedEx tracking # on the package itself, and taping over that!.

I glue then tape. Writing tracking # on it is a great idea. Some people put a copy of the label inside the box for the same reason.

For super important boxes, I just tape a second label on the box. Overkill probably, but it makes me feel better.

I do this. I put a label right on top inside the box.

So I dropped off a package at Walgreens on Wed at 9:30am. Supposed to arrive at my trade partner today. Well it didn't get picked up until today and now is arriving tomorrow. This is after 1) they assured me the truck comes everyday and 2) that when I called this morning (I noticed no movement on my box) that it had been picked up. This is my 20th trade on Ba and I've used the same mom and pop store for the first 19. I'll be going back to them. I only used Walgreens because it was there and I didn't have time to drive across town. And now I look like an idiot for it. Wouldn't recommend it. Fortunately the trader is being very cool about it.

Definitely could have ended worse with the holiday weekend - but any trader who gets upset over one extra day is a ****, methinks.

Definitely appreciate this post and all the anecdotal feedback. I have two Walgreens locations within a two minute drive. I still drive ten minutes straight to a Fedex.

Seems pretty intuitive that dropping off at Walgreen's is not an ideal move. Just go to a real FedEx store. Or set up your own FedEx account and have them pick up at your house.

Agreed, and that was my first intuition too. But I had no option to bring it to my usual place, so I rolled the dice. They assured me they come every day, saw them scan it in, emailed confirmation, and they put it in a Fed Ex lock box behind photo counter. Then nothing happened on it for almost 29 hours. Fortunately it all worked out and my box made it to the fellow Ba safe and sound today. I still won't use them again. Lesson learned.

EDIT: Interestingly enough, I came to this forum to make this exact thread, and someone had just beat me to it. Also noteworthy, the woman at photo couldn't figure out the scanner device and had to call a manager over. He had no prob, but did say they were new to having Fed Ex there. He then made a sarcastic comment (in complete jest) about how the idea was that now I was supposed to buy something. I did not.

Don't they charge per package if they pickup at a residence?

    Also...Hey Jay!
