Just got a call about a package I shipped out Friday. "The driver from the Fedex location to the main Charlotte hub left his back door open and your package fell out on the road and is lost" Word for freaking word".

The lady on the phone for the claim said I needed to provide proof of contents on claim form. I said I don't have any receipts, and she says, well they usually work with you on that and are pretty understanding.

Does anyone have any experience with this or can provide any feedback?

    Thanks.

Apparently the person waiving him down on the highway called in and confirmed the back of the truck was open. I'm thinking of trolling I77 tonight with the high beams on.

FedEx has historically been great.. but I have had NOTHING but problems the past 2-3 weeks. I had one box that they were unable to deliver...for no apparent reason. Fortunately I was able to have it sent to a fedex store. I had another box that was returned to the sender after being out on the truck for delivery with a note saying that it was returned because it wasn't sent requiring adult ID (driver must have had xray vision b/c the box was unopened), and then today I had a box that included proprietors that I sent to someone that was damaged and unable to be delivered...and not just that, but it couldn't be held for pick up and it could also not be returned to me. It was just being discarded.

I think I will say that having a box fall out of the back of the truck would piss me off a bit more though... lol.

OP, I'm glad it wasn't my package that fell of the truck! Bummer though. Hope you get compensated for it.

Take a close look at the bottom of the box. They open boxes from the bottom to inspect so that the label remains intact. At first glance, it looks like the box was never opened.

Just last night, I was supposed to have 2 FedEx shipments delivered. Both statuses report them as being delivered and left at my front door, but they weren't there when I got home. Filed a claim with them as soon as I could and should hear back from them today. The past 2 trades haven't gone smoothly at all - discouraging, especially when it's boxes full of BCBCS.

OP, I call that explanation FedEx is trying to pass off to you as bullshit. I wouldn't be surprised if FedEx came back to me today with the reason "the wind blew them off your front porch". The previous trade (with UPS though), I called customer service and after 4 delivery attempts, asked the rep what I could do if the package doesnt arrive tomorrow...her response was "that time hasn't come, so don't think about it yet..." *click* I hung up. They'll tell you anything to cover their mistakes (or inside problems).

I had the same issue on my last inbound FedEx box (containing some precious HOTD Matt). Tracking showed delivered & left on porch. Nothing there 3 hours later. The sender, after 10 days of getting the investigative run-around from customer service, started the claim process.

Two days after the claim is filed and 13 days after supposed delivery, the box shows up on my porch with no explanation. I went back and checked the tracking, and it was wiped clean, showing only shipped date and date arriving at my local FedEx hub...

    Don't give up hope.

Wow, that is a weird string of events! Well fortunately, I just received the packages today on the doorstep. I called the person with whom I was trading and told him the good news. He told me one possibility is that the delivery guy scanned the boxes to fulfill a quota of some sort while he didn't have time to actually make the delivery and then made an effort to deliver it the next day (today). It could have also been similar to your case, because both of us pursued the issue with FedEx. I think in general, the Christmas holiday is hell.
