It's looking more and more like FedEx "lost" the package I was trying to send. (And this is my very first trade, which really does not bode well for me!)

Do I have any recourse, given the contents of said package? It was about $100 worth of limited brews.

I would suggest following up with FedEx or UPS to find out where this got lost. As far as recourse, you are probably skrewed bro. The Beer Advocate police will not be able to do anything for you. If your trader had a good reputation on here, I wouldn't think that he was trying to jack your beer without returning the trade. Sorry dude.

Not a bro or a dude, but thanks for the feedback.

I've made about 20 calls to Fedex, totalling 4+ hours on the phone in the last few days. I also went down to the service center, but didn't get anywhere. The building manager where I live also looked into it, but came up short - with nothing except the driver's name that supposedly picked it up, but no way to get a hold of him or follow up. And when I call customer service, they're not quick to find this driver and track him down. I just feel helpless (and angry!)

I'm not posting on here to plead my case to the BA police; just want to know what advice/experience any other traders might have. Oh and this is a most excellent trader (the recipient), so there's absolutely no issue there.

    Sorry brah :flushed:

Going forward, I would take your package to Fed Ex instead of leaving at your building. It has always worked for me.

Exactly what does the tracking number say?

Was the number ever scanned by the driver?

If it was never scanned in, then you are screwed.

If it was scanned by the driver and never shows at its destination, the FedEx is at fault and you will be reimbursed unless something broke and then they discover it is alcohol, and even then some people have been reimbursed despite the shipment of alcohol being against FedEx policy.

Taken, but not scanned (of course). So "technically" it has nothing to do with FedEx. It would stand to reason that since the concierge was the last to have it, the property manager would owe me something at that point. She's pointing the finger at the driver though, so I feel like it's he said she said and I'm the one losing out.

Are there cameras in the lobby or wherever boxes are picked up? Seems that would clear up the he said, she said stuff pretty quick, fella. :grinning:

$100 in limited beers on a first trade?! That takes major bal- (oh nevermind)

You do have a feasible course of action you could and should take to make this all right, so you're in luck.

    Either:

    1) replace the limited brews, and send a new box

    2) Send different beers the recipient deems acceptable as a replacement for the original box

    3) Send the beers you received back, plus some extra locals to cover the shipping

Could be worse, you can make this up.... there is hope....

Well, they're not like "whale-status" limited. Some were DC Brau's OTWOA, which just happened to sell out the day they released it. There were a couple of things that were part of the trade, and then some extras that I wanted to throw in as this person was since enough to trade with a first-timer. The monetary value isn't what bothers me as much as the time I've put in though. I spent a few hours at the release, then drove to a couple of bottle shops to find some good stuff - and have now wasted tons of time/energy on the phone with FedEx.

Ps. I'm loving the all the various ways people are calling me a dude

Yeah, I thought of that. The only thing that kinda worked out is that as a first-timer, I was asked to ship first. Since he hasn't received anything, he hasn't sent anything - so it's not like I have to make something up to him. (I do feel bad that he was counting on getting these beers from me though.)
